Tigertony also has a game up as allies. You 2 could play, if you haven't played before yet.
We've played each other before so looking for some new opponents :-)
pwurzburger here is looking to be allies in standard 1939 game
Hey pwurz! Glad you found your way here. Best place to post is to do a New Topic in the folder above this one (Multiplayer Sessions) but now that you're here hopefully someone picks up the gauntlet. Good luck!

Harrysmith has just about completed my complete destruction so I am open for a new challenge as Axis or Allies. :-)

Pekkavilamoura (Axis) [WIN] vs. Feinder (Allies) [LOSS]
Game ends February 1944 as Allies concede defeat.

Axis advance deep into Russia. Allies abolishes the Kriegsmarine and takes full control of the Med and NA, then pushing north through Syria into Turkey, landing in Italy and eventually forcing them to swap sides.
But it was all too late, after heaviest battles in Caucasus the panzers had already turned north to take the rest of USSR.
Allies continued the fight though, but soon saw that there is not much you can do against German high morale and high tech and those seasoned panzer corps.
Great, fun and fast paced game, thanks Feinder!

Thanks for great game Pekka, "thrilling" would be an understatement. I was hoping that (after USSR fell), that I could "hold/contain" Germany, and then focus on taking out Japan. But lots of US were needed to hold vs. our slugfest in Turkey (and Allies getting pushed back), and little/no additional traction vs. Japan (esp when Level-4 Panzers coming at me).

Once again, thank you, and great game Pekka!

Tigertony wrote: Sat Jul 11, 2026 3:57 am To get more people into rated games, this thread needs to end because calling these games an 'ELO Tournament' is misleading and not going to get clicks. (I only clicked because I was curious about getting into a tournament.) Then start a new thread for 'ELO Rated Games and Challenges' (or similar).
Tigertony has a good point, the World at War ELO Tournament thread is misnamed and may be discouraging newbies from trying out the rating system. I know if I was new to the forum, I would not click on the thread because I'm not interested in getting involved in a tournament.

Can we rename the discussion? Or do we need to start a new thread with a better description?

If a new thread is started, perhaps Firsteds ELO Ratings Table could be locked into the first page. Right now we have to scroll through the discussion to find the ratings table. Scrolling through the discussion may be fine for us veterans but we want to encourage new players to use the Ratings Table when accepting a challenge so they are not overwhelmed by an expert.

That is what I thought Pete's thread would be. But he says "No". But maybe it could be?

Pekkavilamoura (Allies) [LOSS] vs. gronivaure (Axis) [WIN]
Game ends Avril 1946 with Axis décisive victory

Germany take the Suez option. Poor Barbarossa (Russia take Finland) and No winter général in winter 42. D Day in Fall 42. Push by Russia on East Front as best German unit go at West to destroy allies armies. No winter general in winter 43. If the winter strike at this time, perhaps the East German line of défense collapse. Germany take Middle East but not Persia. In summer 43 Allies take back Suez and isolate German army in Irak. Winter strike in 44 but German advance everywhere until the end of the game in Russia who finish with Perm as capital.
Japan do the job. Japan navy win battle around Borneo against UK and US fleet. (Think It's hard to attack with fleet. When you defend you can hit and flee. When you attack you move and hit, you are exposed in sight of ennemy.) Japan take China, India, Australia and attack Russia.
UK surrender after reach 0 in moral. USA propose peace after reach 0 in Moral and declare war on Axis again 2 turns later. Germany take Le Caire in avril 46 for a décisive victory.

What a game! 836 units destroyed. 7 years of battles everywhere on map. Thanks Pekkavilamoura for this experience.

Thanks gronivaure for a great match! At least I achieved the 1946 bonus points :D
Great combined arms warfare by the Axis, have to see how I can contain that a bit better in our rematch, starting right now:

New ELO: Pekkavilamoura (Axis) vs. gronivaure (Allies). Std ELO rules. Good luck!
