In a game that lasts this long the enjoyment needs to be taken from the planning and execution of tactical battles continuously during the playing. Playing this game for the ultimate win or loss is a huge investment for a relatively small payoff in the end.

You were in a great position in the game. Some people (I cant say for your opponent) start to nitpick game tactics and programming when they begin to lose to cover for themselves. Unfortunately we have all seen many games end at the point where the Japanese high water mark is reached or maybe just a little past that.

Given his oil situation the game likely would have ended in 44 or early 45 because IMO he simply did not have the reserves to meet replacement costs and needs.

Congratulations on waging a wonderfully planned and executed game. If Japan had fared as badly we may never have needed to use atomic bombs!

Thanks for the recap Magic Moose..[8D] Off to re-read the whole AAR with 1EJ`s too. It`s IMVHO that dense HR`s tend to produce longer ( if much more boring[;)]) Games.

Regards & Respect.

Thanks for the thoughts.

The Allies have two, huge "chunks" of game: survive and prepare, and execute. They're different. I only got to see the first. In my Lokasenna game I'm also seeing the first. Very often I dread opening the combat replay. It's educational,. but often not "fun." Conversely, Japan has two chunks as well, but many players never see the second. It's the painful one, but no less educational.

My AAR was benefited greatly by having some of the forum's best players weigh in on some strategic ideas and concepts. The discussion about the "China bug-out" is an example. And, if you read the whole thing, you learn how to make a real Singapore Sling. [:)]

Yep. Allied players should have a chance at the second phase, and Japanese players shouldn't balk at the second more difficult part. It's actually a lot of fun when things go right for a day and makes up for the many days when they don't. Plus it's definitely the best learning about the game you can do. How do you know if your early defensive strategies and placements are any good unless you get to see the end result?

Sorry this ended for you and hopefully the game with Cliff can get to the end.

I have every confidence. Might not be in in 1945-46 though. [:)]

Must get ~25K VPs plus 4 for every 1 of yours sometime in the next year... I need to draft a master plan.

I haven't updated that one since.... I don't even know. 6 months ago, probably. Before I entered Chungking, I know that much.

Spreadsheet is just fancy talk for math. I don't need to do it in my head that way.
