Do you have enough amhib shipping i.e. APAs and AKAs already for invading Saipan, Tinian and Guam simultaneously?!?

At this stage of the war, there's pretty much none of those yet. I can't expect them until well into 1943. I have about 12 AP/AKs with each group, with the rest being xAP/xAKs.

I'm hitting 3 sites simultaneously: Guam, Tinian and Saipan. I'm packing 4 battleships with each group.

Rethinking my strategies a bit.

I've recalled my Marianas invaders. Most of the TFs are spotted, though only at about level 3 or less. I'm guessing search planes at Wake found them. I should have thought this through earlier. My new plans are to take Wake and probably Marcus Is before pushing on further west. I can better ensure surprise from that point.

Steve's finally decided to make a move in the DEI, landing troops at Ambon. They landed, but his ships got roughed up a bit by the coast defenses.

Thinking over things, I'm trying too much to fast. I'll most likely take the Marianas in 1943, which is still far ahead of schedule. Lots of Essexes can help out then, too, and I'll probably have more dedicated amphibious ships by then also. Maybe also an amphib HQ with a command ship. I do want to take Wake by December and Marcus not long afterward.

In the States and Panama, I've had a number of APcs start to arrive. Not sure how suitable they'll be for amphib operations. They don't carry a lot, however. Speed isn't an asset either.

APc's? Armoured Personnel Carriers sure do not carry many troops - and they don't float so well either!
Is there another type of equipment called APc?

APc = coastal transports. Also known as "apple carts". Based on the hull of a AMc class and originally requested as "Raider transports". However, the new landing craft classes were found to be more suitable for that role. Therefore APc were not used for amphibious assaults (and the game does not allow them to be used in that role) but to ferry personnel and supplies ("ass and trash") from forward depots to landing sites near the front (any beach, cove, inlet etc. would do). Esp. useful when the amount of people / stuff to move was too small, the conditions at the loading/unloading sites too dangerous (shallow water, reefs etc.) and the risk of enemy intervention too high for the use of a regular transport. The APc augmented the large number of civilian small craft like trawlers, sailing boats, yachts, tugs etc. purchased / commandeered by the Army "Small Ships Section". My mod includes a number (but far from all) small craft of different types and sizes, which might be useful (esp. if you "role-play" the game) with the increased number of dot bases in the PNG / Solomons area. Getting through the year. Hopefully, sub torps will start working a bit in January.

LSTs and LCIs are slowly trickling in from the States and Panama. Extra tools for invasions.

Moulmein's still grinding on. Gives everyone else a chance to escape to India.

My invaders have mostly all unloaded at Pearl. More invaders for Wake and Marcus are busy prepping. If I can take one or both in January, hopefully I can have one squadron of fighters flipped to F4Us by then for island defense. Once those islands are secure, I can deal with the Marianas. If I deal with KB in the process, I can take comfort knowing loads more carriers will arrive shortly.

Two massive convoys of fuel are bound to Sydney from the US, as I've run my fuel down pretty good there. Probably over 350k on the way. Another convoy is enroute from Abaddon, taking the long way there. Hopefully KB stays out of the Indian ocean.

I've been bombing refineries at Rangoon. They're something like 81(105) now.

Rabaul was hit a few days ago. Lightnings can escort all the way.

The "arrow" designates subs which are carrying a floatplane. An underscore designates midget-sub carriers. An asteristic designates mine-laying subs. Helps with identification without having to enter the ship screen.

28 Dec 1942

Moulmein finally falls. The downside is that all the units don't appear to be respawnable.

Another big of ground units west of Rangoon were trying to escape. They're now stuck in a Japanese occupied hex and will also slowly die. I managed to evacuate some fragments of these by sea. Another large group has made it to Imphal and more have reached Akyab. Enough to defend India at this point, though I doubt that will come.

My Wake invaders have departed Pearl. The Marcus invaders and the support forces and aircraft will leave in a day or two. Two carrier groups with 3 CVs each will escort the invaders. A CVE group with 6 jeep carriers are also along, so I can probably shrug off any attack which may come in. I have 6-7 battleships plus 4 CA with each invasion group, so they'll deal a hammer blow to any defenders. I've enough assault transports (AP and AK) to haul all the troops. More amphib ships are enroute to Pearl, so I'm in good shape at that end. Once these two islands are taken, I'll move on the Marianas. I'm bringing enough planes to Wake and Marcus where they can probably defend themselves fairly well.

If KB doesn't contest or gets beaten, my carriers may sweep Japanese waters to catch any tankers or transports. I've still officially claimed only two fleet carriers, but I'm pretty certain I sunk a third.

Looking forward to 1943. Corsairs will arrive and my subs' dud rate should drop a bit.

Units that disband or are withdrawn are not able to be bought. If you have any fragments of the units, then one of those fragments will become the units.

Another year, a good one.

Hopefully subs will perform somewhat better now. The F4U pool is starting to build, which can only help things.

Wake invaders are 13 hexes from their target. They should land early in the turn on Friday. My groups here have just gotten spotted this turn. Fortunately, I've sighted a decent sized IJN carrier group sitting in the Shortlands right now. Dive bombers from Lunga went at them without escort and got beat up for it.

Bombers at Calcutta have been hitting the oil fields at Magwe in Burma. Nearly half of them are wrecked now. It only helps to shut off any oil resources.

Once I have Wake/Marcus wrapped up, I should be able to kick off the Marianas campaign nearly immediately. More assault transports have been reaching Pearl, so shipping troops shouldn't be an issue. If I can take that without issue, I can start looking at the Philippines.

Getting closer.

My ASW air patrols around my invaders show about 5 IJN submarines at or near Wake. The usual Mundy invasion protocols would have ASW groups attached, but I neglected it this time. He's got a good look at my invaders, with battleships and transports being seen with his attack. My DDs pounded that sub pretty good, but I have to deal with the rest. I currently have all float planes assigned to ASW.

We'll see. Marcus is probably quieter.

His carriers at Shortlands have disappeared. Wonder if they're headed north. I think a big mistake for him if he does.
