Game #133 [LOSS] ElvisJJonesRambo (Axis) vs ThunderLizard (Allies) fun to do Naval & North Africa, but we know that strategy doesn't matter
Game #134 [LOSS] ElvisJJonesRambo (Allies) vs DmitryN (Axis) cookie cutter, yawn
Game #135 [LOSS] ElvisJJonesRambo (Axis) vs eraiod08 (Allies) snow/rain from November 1939 to April 1940. weather is a joke
Lifetime Achievement Record 62-73
Conclusion:
a) might as just play with Reloads and no FOW. Like steroids, cannot compete unless doing. I'll never believe the fake results.
b) cookie cutter is a yawn
c) Pacific like the movie "On Golden Pond", could hear a pin drop, doesn't matter.
d) weather too dominate, (example: the first 6 Axis turns in BOTH China & Western Europe)
e) forums are woke

Yep, that's Larry, aka Colonel Pitts, in the absolute 1970s classic: The Eagle Has Landed. I'll watch this flick (well, at least have it in the background), once year rotation.

Yes, the movie was great. Michael Caine in his prime. He was excellent as Kurt Steiner. And Donald Sutherland. And Robert Duvall. An outstanding cast.
However the book was even better.

Game #136 [LOSS] ElvisJJonesRambo (Allies) vs ThunderLizard (Axis) Russians got their ass kicked in Summer 1942. Nice paratroop entrapment plus Panzers galore against the Red Army trying to fight too far upfront.

too far upfront.
How far up is that?

Got cracked just East of Smolensk, on the road to Moscow, no reason to be there.
Same can be said fighting after Rostov fell.
Orel was getting pounded.
Worst was the encirclement of the units on roads to Voronezch. Top notch Nazis had taken a bridgehead turn before (had Fort + AAgun). Bunta Armies took the city with Panzer help, then Paratroops cutoff 3 good units. Dumb, I should have retreated after the Bridgehead existed.
To sum it up, got my ass kicked.

Game #138 [LOSS] ElvisJJonesRambo (Axis) vs calcwerc (Allies) --- This one went the distance. Berlin Buntas surrender in July 1945. Japs are doomed, as Russians have come into Manchuria; Chinamen in the wire; and Iwo Jima toast. Japs still hold Manilla, but no way can hold until May 1947. Allies will get Minor Victory or better.
Gerry got stopped at all the *key points on the board. Gave a good push into Egypt, lost Battles of El-Alamein was a bummer. Had Brits on the ropes, but nope. Successfully pulled Panzers out + Rommel, but to late to help elsewhere for the expense.
In Russia, calcwerc fortified the Rostov South territories. Where battles waged. Nazis snagged Stalingrad, and held with some stout power, but Yanks were airblasting France. *Key counter-attack, Russians waxed HQ, good move. Moscow was taken for couple turns, but you know how that goes. United States Air Force was sick. B-52 and LR means no hope in France. Gerry did decent retreat, but impossible odds.
In the Pacific, Japs did quite well. Winning major engagements with experience Ships/Planes which were always be trained by Toto. Yanks took some losses and Prestige Points not fully advancing, since the effort was typical in Europe.

Game #139 [LOSS] ElvisJJonesRambo (Allies) vs ThunderLizard (Axis)
Pulled off the early attack on Japs, would have been a winner.
Only problem, don't DOW on Borneo, Vietnam, etc.
USA never joined.
Toast.

Game #140 [LOSS] ElvisJJonesRambo (Axis) vs PeteDalby (Allies)
Axis surrender Early Summer 1944.
Built Rockets, completely worthless. Had Level 4 with +2 experience. Suppose to do collateral damage, doesn't.
In Pacific, did the Pachoc training. Had stellar Ships. There was one decent Naval battle near Tarawa. Pretty much an exchange, but that held the islands for awhile longer than usual. Japs squeezed & contained China despite the training exercise. Japan held the usual territory and quite safe in 1944.
Problem was Russia, of course. Attempted a Rocket shelling on Leningrad, no dice. The Rockets suck. The instructions state I should be getting 50% chance of collateral damage, never happens. Appears to only happen on ports. Which means notta. Had 2-Rockets, Level #4, Experience #2, they suck. Allies took Italy down by the typical suicide swarm of Morale cities. Germans held off an Anzio attack. Rather historical, actually. Allies bought of the Greeks, for the most part Romanians with some help, held in 1944.
In Russia, I'm missing 1500 MMPs buying Rockets. Leningrad failed, pulled back the attempt. Russians played agressive attacks. Was busy countering, which means slow death.
In France, the countryside was littered with Fortresses. My opponent was tired of being bogged in Romania/Italy/Russia, so the Yanks did a stellar move to take Netherlands and the port. With Forts/Corps in France, became a reverse worthless Maginot Line. Yank/Brits Bombers reduced key trains to rubble. Meanwhile, the real invasion in 1944 was Netherlands. Good move.
Game over, I'll never buy Rockets, ever. Worthless.

Game #141 [LOSS] ElvisJJonesRambo (Allies) vs KlasE (Axis)
Allies are toast before even Barby. Surrender.
Disaster #1: May 1940 Germans got clear weather throughout, French cracked.
Disaster #2: Early 1940, Royal Navy sent most ships to Pacific to fit Japs. Germans sent all their ships to Atlantic. Weak ass Navy trashed, didn't expect every Kriegsmarine.
Disaster #3: Early 1941, Royal Navy went to Singapore with 3 Carriers and Task Force in 1940, looking for Japs. Problem is the entire IJN was waiting to ambush me, before I ambushed them. Completely trashed, lost 3 Carriers plus many surface ships, no survivors. Whoever would attack first, would have won that battle. 4 vs 3 Carriers.
Disaster #4: Late 1940, Brits took rear units out of Egypt for Singapore. German Special Forces took empty Suez port somehow, not sure how that happened.
Disaster #5: Late 1940, India had moved to East Africa. Since Royal Navy didn't exist, sizable HQ + Armies trapped, no way to go how. India was cakewalk with nothing to guard.
Disaster #6: Chinese had just gotten Level 2 Infantry, one turn too late, never able to upgrade, when Jap Army had just upgraded and came in force.
British tried to get tricky, walked into Hell.

Game #142 [Win] ElvisJJonesRambo (Axis) vs Bubblebox (Allies)
China went well.
Barby went well.
Africa went well.
Turkey joined.
Japs did their part.
Germans win Summer 1943

Game #143 [LOSS] ElvisJJonesRambo (Axis) vs calcwerc (Allies)
Yet another game that went the distance.
Italy surrenders early 1945, amazing they made it that long.
Germans surrender October 1945
Japs surrender October 1946
Pacific was ruled by the Rising Sun. Took out China & India. All the action in Europe. Until the fall of Berlin.
Gerry had Turkey on Diplo, large MMP supply.
Majority of the game revolved around Turkey and Southern Russia. Calcwerc used his extensive bend but dont' break defense with Forts behind rivers of Rostov, Stalingrad. German took forever to break thru to the Oil wells, attempting to link with Turkey, where massive line of battles happened also. *Key was weather turn. Russians were on their heels, needed clear weather in the South on an August turn. Nope, mud. Russians were able to take the break and refix the region, else toast.
Yanks skipped on Italy, came to France in August 1943 in strength. That foothold was the slow demise. Calcwerc goes huge with USAAF, firestorm.

Game #144 [Resign] ElvisJJonesRambo (Axis) vs BubbleBox (Allies) --- Axis is crushing, no real point playing out. China is toast. Russia being worked over. Not gonna call it a win.
Game #145 [Resign] ElvisJJonesRambo (Allies) vs BubbleBox (Axis) --- Allies held Paris until early 1941. Germans behind. Not gonna say it's a win, resign.
Game #146 [Resign] ElvisJJonesRambo (Axis) vs sappershade (Allies) --- Allies getting crushed all over. Not gonna play it out. Not gonna call it a win. Resign
Game #147 [LOSS] ElvisJJonesRambo (Axis) vs ThunderLizard (Allies) --- Same shit. Took Moscow, Stalingrad, but once game hits turning point, impossible for Axis to win. Game is in Early 1944, Germans/Japs are in good shape, but impossible to win once American forces which are dumping & dying to buy time.
Game #148 [LOSS] ElvisJJonesRambo (Axis) vs petedalby (Allies) --- Had fun with massive battle in Med Front, but cannot win this way. Will lose on points.
Game #149 [LOSS] ElvisJJonesRambo (Allies) vs KlasE (Axis) --- Forgot to move pieces or reinforce multiple times. British were leaving Suez, didn't move them. Forgot to reinforce Hawaii. Forgot to move China piece. Toast. No point. Too many games. I lost.
Game #150 [LOSS] ElvisJJonesRambo (Axis) vs Beriand(Allies) --- Had fun fighting in MedFront, but can never win that way. Germans are toast. The usual will happen. Won't be able to take out Russia, then American Bombers and MMPs.

Got Soccer Coaching starting, gonna be on road for personal stuff too. Calling it quits on the following. The "Resigns" I think I'd win, mostly newer players. On the others, posting as Loss.
Anyhow. Axis games, I'm not knocking out Russia because I like trying different things. End up taking Moscow/Stalingrad then the American MMPs wear the Germans down. Japs are usually good to go. Against the advanced players, they flip a switch here or there. Either way. Posting.
Spring starting. Too many games. No patience for just two games. Because I hate waiting. Then I start playing because I wanna game. Burnout and work too.
