This would be the correct angle to look at a 50.

The best part of the visit. Dorothy(wife of the collector) say in her broken pigeon english, "P-38 lighting....plane that shot down Yamamoto". I could not believe I heard that. From then on I had a great respect for her, she knew the type of everything there.[&o]

Notice tiny twig sticking out of the joint, that is holding the wing in the flying position.

Full wing with old star. It was a rather larger wing and my guess was TBF?

Thanks for the input. Since I have gotten a great response from you all I have enjoyed posting the photos. Has helped me relive my dream trip of a lifetime. Who would of thought someone would want to see a slide show of my vacation???

Depending on the arrival or no arrival of my turn, there will be a break of a half hour or a day as I prep(make the files smaller)more pics for posting...bye

Dorothy is mega-cool.

Looks like a TBF; surprised to see the meatball star rondel that late. When did that phase out?

She was VERY COOL. Since I had a hard time understanding her I underestimated her. Bad on me. She knew what was there.

I can only guess on the TBF wing that it could of been from the Sara or Big E sqd's based at Henderson for a while when their ships were being repaired.
