If I get a vote, then I'd vote for a Nemo or Alfred vs. CR death match with auto-vic in the mix. Or, for something completely different, how about GreyJoy vs. CR with GJ as the Evil Empire? That would give all the JFBs a chance to give buckets of advice to GJ just like the AFBs have been doing.

Happy New Year to all you kind gents, also.

Steve has once again sent the wrong turn file, so no turn today.

For several weeks, I have been mulling over starting a new game once this game reaches January 1, 1943, but I'm starting to think about whether I might want to move that up, since this game has gone into a nearly stagnant mode.

I think - I'm not positive, but I think - that I only want to start a new game against Nemo or Alfred. Both of those gents, to my way of thinking, would be strong candidates to shoot for auto victory. (There are others out there who could also, but I don't know them as well because I only follow a very, very few AARs.) So, if Nemo or Alfred (or both of them) were interested, I think I'd be interested in a Scenario Two match. If neither of those gents rises to the bait, I'll mull over things for awhile before proceeding.

I think either of these matches would be great entertainment for the players and the followers. I've been sensing your impatience with this game as it has become more stagnant over the past months and especially now as the turns are mis-sent.

Good luck securing an opponent and I will be impatiently anticipating a new start. Your AAR with Q-Ball was what really got me hooked on this game and I look forward to another challenging game full of intrigue and personality.

PS - And, if GJ is interested, how could you turn that one down! It would invigorate the JFB side of things with his AAR and I'm sure he has learned quite a bit about the IJ from Rader's first year progress. He gave some surprisingly great advice to me when I was starting my first game and he hadn't ever played the Japanese side.

Just don't let him catch you with your 4" stillettos on or it'll be all over.

Oh, I don't think Steve is about to give up. I wouldn't be surprised if he isn't a bit discouraged, but he hasn't said anything to indicate he would have thoughts of giving up. Based upon his track record, I think he's digging in and preparing to fight over the long haul. (I'm just hoping that he isn't as good at tactical and operation defense as my fair opponent Miller is - if so, things will be tough going for the Allies).

Steve does routinely send the wrong turns, etc. I think that's mainly because he works in a high pressure job. He was also present yesterday evening for the birth of a granddaughter, so I suppose we can excuse him just this once for being preoccupied. [:D]

The game has slowed considerably over the past month or so, in part due to my own absence for most of a week. So that's got me thinking about starting a new game, but we'll see.

I wish I was preparing to administer a knockout punch in the game with Steve. To my way of thinking, I already have - the iron grip on eastern Sumatra should be death to Japan. The other way that Japan might concede is to lose the KB. I had hoped the emergency in Sumatra would persuade Steve to commit the KB to action there, but so far it hasn't. So, the Allies will continue the careful expansion into the Java Sea region bases. Within 10 days, the Allies will try to land strong garrison forces at vacant Ketapang and Pontianak, Borneo. If successful, the Allies will have cut through the Java Sea, so that Japanese shipping will now have to divert around Borneo or "run the gauntlet." Also, the Allies will be building big bases within shooting range of Singapore, Kuching, Singkawang, Balikpapan, Batavia, and even Soerabaja. That should be an absolutely intolerable state of affairs for Japan in 1942, but we'll see if Steve is willing to fight for his Empire.

DEI: Allies forming two small TFs to carry heavy machinery to Toabali and Billiton Island, stuff that the APDs couldn't bring along earlier. IJ subs keep sparring with Allied ASW in and around Oosthaven, but the ASW seems to have seriously repressed successful enemy sub missions. 4EB from Oosthaven targeted a number of bases in western Java, including Merak and Batavia. These appear lightly garrisoned. I want to give the appearance of a mounting threat there, just to keep Steve guessing. But at this time I'd rather focus on reinforcing the island bases in the Java Sea as opposed to taking a gamble in Java and getting bogged down in a big war against vast enemy infantry units.

Mindanao: Funny, because the isolated Allied force at Malaybalay held against a huge enemy deliberate assault, though forts dropped to one. This base will fall shortly, but it has managed to tie down 76k enemy troops at no cost to the Allies.

NoPac: No sign of enemy aggression yet.

CenPac: Big Allied reinforcement convoy will arrive at Tarawa from the SE in two days. Allied fighters moved to Tarawa to provide CAP.

SWPac: Milne Bay port and airfield to level two in just a few days.

I've never been able to understand the mythology of Chuck Norris. In hand-to-hand combat, I'll take Jason Bourne. If distance is called for, I choose Chuck Connors and his improvised Winchester rifle.

Arg! If this is the start of another Chuck Norris line, I will have to vacate the premises for a week or two!

After having suffered so oft through the same misfortune, I have started to wonder just how much time his P3C Orion spent above 10k feet without the pilots informing him that he needed to use the oxygen mask!

NoPac: For the first time in months, the enemy employs Tojos in the game. 40 of these fighters appear in NoPac, though a handful of P-39s handled by crack pilots holds their own. The appearance of elite enemy fighters is further evidence (in my analysis) that the enemy has major intentions here before winter arrives.

CenPac/SoPac: Quiet.

SWPac: Milne Bay airfield and port reach level two.

DEI: Three small transport TFs depart Oosthaven carrying troops (mainly heavy equipment) to Toboali and Billiton. 4EB and recon continue to hit bases in western Java, with some enemy CAP employed this time.

Mindanoa: Via shock attack, Japan finally dislodges the stubborn defenders at Malaybaylay.
