Doing a Staff Ride at Chicamauga, put on by the USMHI. First day was a lot of seminars and a big map table exercise. Had several speakers who knew their stuff and knew their ground. Extensive note taking was encouraged. Then off to we went to Alexander’s Bridge. A lesson in firepower in restricted engagement situations. Woof !!! I got to shoot a Spencer .56 rimfire. Nice gun.

Learning a lot. A very interesting campaign.

[ed] Holy Shimoly, did I just get a UNP ?

Ciao. JWE

He took all of New Caledonia back in early April. I retook Noumea in early May and followed his retreating troops north. When I got to Koumac, he had more stuff there than I thought he would, and we've both been feeding reinforcements into it since then. I'm trying to organize a naval blokade to choke off his SLOC to New Caledonia.

Sounds like fun! [8D]

After you push him into the sea and can catch your breath, it will see like it was fun. [:D]

Week number two is in the books and I couldn't be happier. The Bengals win last night was icing on the cake. [:D]

I did a spilt in the matrix leagues this week. My out look here has been lowered greatly. Although Reggie Bush seems like he's going to be OK, I've lost a number of other players to injuries. My big weakness was no back ups and now I need them and don't have them.

Seems more and more like, I'm just along for the ride. [:(]

But, you never know. [:D]

This morning was Mass/Velocity day. Longstreet’s charge against Palmer @ Van Cleve. Would Wood have made a difference? We’ll never know. Interesting tactical differences from Picket’s line up at Gettysburg and how he had Hood’s, Johnson’s, Preston’s brigades aligned at Chicamauga. How much of that was Pete and how much serendipity, we’ll never know.

Some of the morning’s analyses deals with the effects of victory and what it does to unit cohesion. An important element when we get to Thomas’ defense.

Lot of the analysis for this morning is the comprehension and activity of the respective General officers. Leadership elements. Hmmmmm.

[ed] Obviously nobody cares so no pictures.

Ciao. JWE

If you have a minute to post some images, I'd be interested in taking a look see, John. The course sounds very interesting.
