I wonder just how many high profile games have results that aren't all they should be?

I guess Spurs were lucky Anderlecht didn't do the same thing in the final (which we won on penalties).

Shocking - and sad for the players. UEFA are as bad as FIFA.

aye, I remember that Anderlecht-Forest match as one of the most blatently rigged games I ever saw.

btw, new source of *fun* in Scottish football is a revival of an old tradition. Every now and then a club gets promoted to the top league for the very first time. Tradition is that they get a nice round of applause at the start of their first visit to all the other 11 grounds. All very nice and friendly.

Except everyone is doing it to Rangers (who are legally and technically a 'new' club) ... this is not being well received by most of the denizens of Ibrox .. which of course adds to everyone elses sense of this being a jolly jape.

Sad indeed. But not shocking. Or maybe you meant shocking that some corruption got exposed?

Thank you for sharing. [:)] [&o]

Robert or Orm, I'm not that familiar with European football (soccer) but reading about the corruption scandal you mentioned, what (if any) corruption history has there been in the English Football League (EFL)? This is the main league in Britain right? Thanks in advance...[:)]

As far as I am aware
there is only one 'betting scandal' that has rocked the game - although I am sure there has been the odd individual case before and since.

That scandal came in the early 60's. I remember my dear old dad telling me about it and there was a TV program made about it that was aired shortly after he died [:(]

One of the players involved - Swan of Sheffield Wednesday - may well have played for England in the World Cup in 1966 had he taken a different path.

Edit: Found these as affecting the 1st Division (the old Premiership) the top division in the English professional league.

Seems so. But who do they intend to replace him with? Maybe Brendan is back in with a chance?

I think they should give the job to a real gentleman this time. Therefore I suggest that My Lord Warspite1 is offered the job.
