False Alarm Tithe...
Doc said the thing looked totally harmless; I got an appointment on Thursday to have it removed, and he'll have it checked in the lab, but it looks like everything is just fine...[8D]
what about the suspicious lump inside your skull?........did they remove that too??

Just finished Holland's "Battle of Britian"
Mixed feelings about it. I don't exactly agree with the author's premise that to properly understand the battle one has to go through the entire history of the German Blitzkrieg attack on France first, along with distractions about the S-boats and even Uboat campaigns before FINALLY getting to the battle itself.
Granted, the author's rendition of the Battle of France was nice, filling in alot of good info about it but the problem is that one doesnt' actually get to the Air battle until the book is 2/3's read and then as a result is suprisingly abreviated and ancedotal*
Yet at the same time the author makes some very interesting observations and points. Some BoB vets will also be suprised at the new appraisal of Goring. Usually he's characatured as a pompass bafoon. While the author does document that he was no air strategist/operational leader, he paints a far different portrait and documents him as actually predicting the failure of the terror bombing campaign on London after Hitler's tactical switch.
As a "definitive" account though....i'd say thats still lacking. I'd rather a more comphrehensive day to day with scores and estimates. He doesn't even have any figures in appendixes! I also think he tends to overstress the Luftwaffe's weaknesses and understates the strain on Fighter Command. Myth Busting remains a popular form of revisionism.
*meaning that one is treated to a confusing mish-mash of personal accounts

My team is on the brink as well. [:(]
Yeah, but the Allies still have a chance in late 1945-1946 to break even. Don't feel too bad, dude. Oh, wait...were you talking about our 2x2 PBEM? [:'(]
