You didn't recognize the routine?[X(] It's almost as memorable as the "dead parrot sketch" or "The lumberjack song". [:D]

Nope. I was never big into it until I met you guys. And seeing how no one has ever posted a link to this, I've never seen it. [:'(]

I know this might come as a shock to you (if in fact you don't view it as outright sacrilage) but there are some things in life that don't involve a computer! [:D][X(]

What????!!!!! [X(]

Hi all,

Sorry... nope...

Leo "Apollo11"
Leo,

The previous references were from a Monty Python skit about using humor as a weapon. It involved British WWII infantry going 'over the top' whilest reading from this humor weapon as they marched forward.

A number of developers of this humor weapon died during it's creation-laughing themselves to death. Thus, for safety sake, no single developer was allowed more than a few words at a time.

The Germans, of course, tried to counter with their own joke creation which was faithfully (mis)translated for the audience. I believe Hitler himself attempted the 'how does your dog smell?' joke to his Hitler jugen faithful. Of course, being Germans, their efforts at military-grade humor were subpar.

Hope this helps. [:)]

We could've kept that going for a while longer you know [:D]
Yeah, I wanted to give the poor guy a break, Dixie. [:D]

If I recall correctly, to T's point, Doug (of the Piranha brothers) excelled in the use of sarcasm as a weapon. That and nailing one's head to a table.

Jeez, you guys are PITAs. It wasnt on TV by the time I learned English, OK? So I never saw it. Benny Hill was, and I loved it. Maybe if it was on regularly, I might have the same level of reverence for it you do. [8|]
