Just wanted to let you know I detailed 2 squadrons of B-26 to Horn Island to try to hit the Jap convoy coming across the Arafua Sea.

Also, Johnny Jap is reconning Fenton (North of Katherine). They may be planning another drop of paraJaps.

Prince of Wales is now 100 days out and Repulse is 36 days out. Formidable is 14 days out. I will outfit her with some USMC F4F's to make up for the loss of the RN F4F's. She needs to go back to Gibraltar in 60 days or so.

Yes, indeed, Fenton has a samll garrison. I imagined that is why it was there. Just saw a Mavis over Fenton twice in last game turn and since you dont have any ships there, I suspected the LYB's may have been up to something. If they do land this turn, I think they will have to shock attack the brigade arriving from Darwin. This will go badly for the "Nips in the Air Bn".

South Pacific: 13 Bettys (either from Noumea or Koumac) attacked a cruiser security force at Suva without escort and were swatted down by 10 P-40B's of 78th FS, which has been stationed at Suva for 4 mos and has never seen the enemy before. They knocked down 5 Bettys and damaged most of the rest. There will likely be op losses on the flight back. Way to go 78th FS

B-17's raided Norfolk for entertainment. There are still Oscars flying but the Bettys seem to be gone.

Oz: The Japs have evidently deduced that Darwin is largely abandoned and have now switched their attacks to Katherine aerodrome. One P-39 was lost. No Nips in the Air seen.

The Jap landing group is near Merauke but has not come ashore. Maybe they are headed to Horn Is. They were attacked by USS Snapper which hit a PB (naturally the torp goes off when it hits a former anchovie boat). RNN KXIV failed to hit anything as did the B-26's from Horn Island.*
