Landing at Normanton in order to outflank the Cape York Allied garrisons would be a rerun of landing at Wyndham to outflank Darwin/Fenton.

Cloncurry can be used to outflank forces advancing east from Normanton.

Yes. I'd say Normanton was the next invasion spot. If you want to hit Cairns or Cooktown why come that route? If Normanton is taken then it opens up some road routes to expand behind any defence line that is based along the Darwin, Cloncurry, Alice roads. Its a useful place to develop to offload more troops and from there a lot of roads start to become available. AE map has produced a lot of new places that provide opportunities and threats. Its worth any player looking closely at all the dot bases that can be developed - many of which were not mentioned in the actual war.

Oz: Jap 77th Regt began landing at Horn. Oddly, they shock attacked and were repulsed handily before most of the Regt was ashore. Is Horn Is. and atoll? Sure doesn't look like it.

At Katherine 3+ Jap divisions attacked but only achieved 1:2 (just barely). They did upset the evacuation of support troops. The Darwin evacuees have not arrived yet. Neither has Jap 6th Guards. Attacks by B-17's continue. THe LYB's are trying to shut down the airfield defended by a single P-39

Shock attack occurs automatically on islands sized 1 and 2. This came out in a thread of about a month ago.

I googled Horn Island to see how big the place was. These are some of the locals, I surmise. Morale is holding up pretty well with the garrison.

You have to admit the water looks inviting. Of course, it probably has great whites and 20 foot Salties in it.
