Tsk, tsk, tsk, Leo...[:'(]

It is sweet and proper to die for the fatherland, but sweeter to live for the fatherland and sweetest to drink for the fatherland. Therefore, drink to honour the fatherland.

Any good on-line Latin-to-English translators (better than what I used)? [;)]

Guh...what a week of work. No turns produced. One would think I work with Logboy.

But I don't. I just suck. Aliens get no comfort here on this oxygen-poisoned planet. I'm ready to play The Longest Day with some bipedal reject and then pass into the beyond. Anyone game?

The Longest Day? The old AH monster? I loved that game, even with it's quirkiness.

There was a Russian movie from the 70s (I think) with a beautiful, imminently quotable line (I hope it translates)...."that's your job, to defend the motherland".

Love and Death?

Ah, once again I'm reminded that as an older person my use of the english language is often no longer correct. Humping boxes once described moving boxes, not a sexual act. Swiping a credit card meant something VERY different then it does today. Queer meant strange, gay meant happy and a native American meant that yoou were born in this country. Did we become more sophisticated or merely more regimented by the media. My favorite was about two years ago a 18 year old seaman was helping my wife move offices. When he admired a photo of her cat , my wife said "oh, you like pussy cats?". The pooor young man suffered a convulsive choking spell. Fortunately he recovered before paramedics were required. I suggested that he read victorian childrens literature if he really wanted a heart attack. [:D]

Small comforts...I've taught a Russian Jew some existentialist Latin. Oh goody.

Forgive my downtroddin state brothers....there is much in life to commend it but not so much as to enjoy it always.

Veni Vidi Vici does not hold so much weight as veritas est adaequatio intellectus et rei.

No worries but existentialist Latin reminded my of one of my favorite lines.

"Non fui, fui, non sum, non curo."
--attributed to a grave marker

I like that. Ancient cynics. [:D]
