What is the title of a story in which an evil wizard turns a harmless furry long-eared critter into a fearsome lizard?
Hare today, Gorn tomorrow! [:D]
Wait a minute ... is that an ethnic joke??? [:-]
I'm not sure, let me ask my harmless furry long-eared critter. His name is Felix Proboscis, I converse with him often. He says it's not ethnic so long as you don't split hares.

My interstellar vehicle just exploded over Magnetogorsk when the warp drive overloaded. I'm going to have to rebuild it from scratch. Does anyone have any spare dilithium crystals they're not using at the moment?

Afraid not - but you can send Lt. Chekov to any big USN base to get uranium from the "nuclear wessels". [:)]

As some of you may know, the last time I had to build one of these I was interrupted. I managed to finish it later however. I made it from a '67 Corvair. Suprisingly few modifications were required. If any of you has one of these old Corvairs and will sell it to me, I will be grateful.

Yes, I know. Some of you scoff at this, but I would remind you that when the Ferengi discovered the AMC Gremlin, the balance of power in the galaxy was shifted, perhaps forever.

OK - I'll bite. I know what a Corvair is/was, since I started driving in 1967 and knew I had to watch for those exploding hazards.
But ... I have no idea what the picture is about or how it connects with Corvairs and dilithium crystals.
I am quite content to let the Ferengi continue to hold us over a barrel about access to AMC Gremlins. I will just outwait them until I die and they can try to sell one to my mortitian to use as my coffin... wait a sec ... since I requested cremation, they better try sell him a Corvair.[:D]

The pic is from 1982's The Thing. I'm not sure it's from the same scene, but at one point Kurt Russell enters the place where they've been keeping Blair (Wilford Brimley) and finds the spaceship that Blair's been building (Blair is one of the Things at this point). The ship reminded me of a Corvair somehow.

9/23/42 A brief update. Pretty much nothing has happened in the Coral sea area for a while, that's my fault since I hold the initiative. I have been bombing the heck out of Efate and Luganville with B-17s however. They appear to be invulnerable to Japanese fighters, none have been shot down yet, and they go in without escorts. In China, Raiden is pressing pretty hard at several points along the Chines perimeter around Chunking. He is also besieging Sinning. In Burma, he continues to press but is finding resistance everywhere. Two days ago, my search plane reported a TF containing two CVs in the Bay of Bengal, but it disappeared as quickly as it showed up. Overall, my air ASW assets seem to be doing great damage to him, while he seems not to have any air ASW assets. FOW though. My subs are not receiving any damage though.

We've been having a fairly brutal air battle over norther Burma, he's really throwing in the kitchen sink there. It was too much for me so I drew my fighters back in. It won't matter alot because his bombing raids in the jungle usually have no effect. You can see below that I lost my top ace in this battle.

I'm not so much interested in Burma as stirring up some action somewhere. Seems most of the AIF is there, so I will bomb them. [;)]

You'll soon see that Burma is successfully stirred.
10/10/42 Sining has fallen. Here's that battle and another:

10/15/42 I've finally done something and landed troops at Efate. An NZ brigade with a Marine regiment, pioneers and amphib engineers. Looks like a pushover. Lexington took a torpedo from a sub, though.

And Hornet (?) took another. [8D] Now if I only believed they did any damage... [8|]

Yes, Hornet now too. [:@] Let me put this curse upon you: Raiden, you sir are a promising and very aggressive officer suitable for a front line assault HQ.

I suppose that involves me demonstrating bamboo spear tactics to the gyrenes in a live fire exercise? [8D]

On the other hand, you can go Charlie on me if you introduce me to Denise Richards. Just tell her to dye her hair brown and wait for her natural color to grow out. Most women who bleach are making a horrible mistake.

10/23/42 Etape was a pushover, it fell on the first attempt. However, one of his subs put a fish in the St. Louis. Many of you probably know that St. Louis is my home world. This has now become personal. Things in Burma seem to be getting interesting. Stay tuned.
