Ahhhh....."The Longest Day".....one of the best board games ever!

Amen to that. Made and set up a special table 60 x 60 bar stool high and played the game for a year. This was all for a game that was $80

To this thread-- I have never played game so much as this one- even including board games such as Squad Leader(AH). I like a lot of players saw the price of $70 and wondered. But, here I am a year later and would have paid $150 or more. To me the game is that good. Any purchase has to be weighted, in cost,to value as it pertains to entertainment and enjoyment. If the question is it worth it. To me the answer would YES. Matrix did an outstanding job on WITP. Many thanks to all their efforts.

At this rate my third or four star will come in the year 2009. But, by that time I will have completed another 6000-8000 turns.

I've been away from the Matrix forums for many months but here is my small input on the price of WITP. [8D]

I too am an old school gamer, raised on AH and SPI, and a long-time Grigsby gamer (including Computer Bismarck, War in Russia (worth $80 back then), Pacific War and now, WITP. The game is stupendous in size, scope and complexity. I played it endlessly when it was released but, due to personal reasons, put away all my game playing till recently. Even now I doubt I will ever have the time to play much but if any game will call me back to wargaming, it will be WITP.

Now back to the insults and senseless posts ("defending the constitution" as a reason for playing WITP and defeating Japan in WW2???).

SHEPARD's PIE - A meat and veggies covered with mashed potatoes instead of the pastry top.

Mmmm. Not had shephards pie for a while. I must rectify that soon

Your version of sheperd's pie is really a cottage pie, traditionaly a sheperds pie was made with mutton whilst a beef version is the cottage pie (in recent times however, wiith the drop in the consumption of mutton, cottage and sheperds pies have become more or less the same thing..)

I much prefer coittage pie. Cook the meat in Guinness first. Seriously, cook the meat and vegetables in Guinness.

When a friend of mine and myself visited jolly ol' England back in 2002, he became absoutely addicted to Bangers & Mash. I'd try a new dish at every restaurant (including Kidney for the 1st time) but he'd always get B&M. Even at the airport on the last day....B&M [:D]

Had them at an Irish Pub in NYC several years ago... Deeelish!
