Summary of Operations 01/30/45
Southwest Pacific: KB task forces enter Bismarck Sea area north of Rabaul, launch daylight naval air strikes supported by LBA planes against Shortlands invasion fleet plus fighter sweeps and bombing strikes against various Allied bases in eastern New Guinea. Situation map follows. AAR’s of various KB air actions are shown below in after-action reports at locations where KB air strikes appeared.

Amphibious landing operations continue at Shortlands and Torokina. Shortlands base captured in deliberate assault by Allied ground forces.
