"Airforce Dragon" - So, "Mighty Dragon" is confirmed as the J-20's official nickname?

Interview with J-20 drivers:
- Subsonic maneuverbility is good (sounds like "only good")
- Once it reaches supersonic speeds, the J-20 has extreme maneuverbility
- The entire plane's sensor fusion is so well made "as if the Pilot is feeling the air-currents on his own skin, seeing everything and hearing everything around him"

HMDS
I cannot expect much from the video, it still looks quite like a older gen helmet display for F-16 and F/A-18 pilots.
EDIT: Henri presumed the helmet is TK-31. It's not equivalent to the one for F-35, but designed to perform off-bore launching with PL-10 AAM.

In that J-20 screen capture, what could be revealed if the censor hadn't blurred the nose of the plane?

Not much, actually.
EOTS/IRST under the nose and radome, mostly.

Not sure how desirable that is. It's not about information overload. It's about the right info at the right time. Perhaps that's just hyperbole.

Just a figure of speech. Chinese language is full of poetic figures even in daily conversations.
The pilot just means that the sensor fusion has reached a point where they have very good situational awareness now.

DF-31AG
2nd picture shows a good comparisson: DF-16, DF-31A and DF-31AG.
The parade square had 16 of them. We can assume that at least one brigade is in service now...

Actually, poetical images aside, if true, are describing the same sensor fussion and information overload of F-35.

Looks like the Navy finally placed their first order for the LRASM. Old video just to go with the news.

Its a co order with the Air Force for air launched. B-1B's will field them first then the Super Hornet fleet.

One has to wonder how much experience B-1 pilots have shooting at ships

First time officially named: HQ-9B SAM and the new HQ-22.
Info for the HQ-22:
http://defence-blog.com/army/china-unve ... huhai.html
The HQ-22 has large kill airspace ranges up to 150-170 km at an altitude from 50 to 27,000m which super adaptive anti-jamming capacity with several anti-jamming measures.
Has basically similiar range as quoted for the HQ-9 series... Which makes PLA watchers think that the rumors of the 200+km range for the HQ-9B has more to it.

It's impossible to rapidly ditch all the HQ-2/12 in favor to HQ-9, even for China that is a very steep price, and will contest with PLAN since they need more HQ-9 for new destroyers than the Army do. HQ-22 is still cheap, with steerable and maneuverable TEL, and with minimal transitional training from older derivatives.
Obviously it is not designed to counter saturation strike, but it's a combat-proven platform against very high altitude targets, it might comes in handy to counter some loitering decoys and drones.

I doubly any of these were put on the frontline during the Sino-Viet war because it's still too new after it's successfully copied. But for the even older kind, like the true SA-2 imported from USSR before the breakup, then it's indeed gave Uncle Sam quite of headache in 50s.
Many famous high-altitudes aircrafts, like some of those U-2 and one D-21 are all wreckages in Chinese hands. The crash of D-21 remain in mystery because it's way smaller and faster for SA-2 to hit, and it's a drone that prone to easily flop around with 60s techs. But, the SR-71 is the only aircraft make China no longer able to put a crosshair on her, and then later the satellites.
One discussion I found about those U-2 were shot:

And the crash of D-21:

The US military has detected "highly unusual and unprecedented levels" of North Korean submarine activity and evidence of an "ejection test" in the days following Pyongyang's second intercontinental ballistic missile launch this month.

Chinese Base in Djibouti officially opened!
They have some combat troops there, including AFVs like the ZBL-08 8x8 IFV and RWS armed Mengshi Humvees.
