Next round searches unsuccessful. Combat ends in the East Med with the Italians still in supply and the CW out of supply in Libya / Egypt.

Turn 20. Nov/Dec 1942. Allied #7. USSR, Europe.
With the long break that Pat and I have had from this game I had forgotten how dire the situation was for the Soviet Union. [:(]

Turn 20. Nov/Dec 1942. Allied #7. USMC 2nd Marine Division. Saipan.
With Saipan out of supply and only defended by a notional, the USMC 2nd Marine Division easily captures the island and destroyed a Japanese aircraft unit and pilot in the process.

Turn 20. Nov/Dec 1942. Allied #7. "The Western Front".
No movement or action by the allies in Spain. In West Africa, Gort and a Canadian Mil setup shop on the coast just south of the Moroccan border.

Frankly, this game looks hopeless for the Allies.

Interesting. I am coming back to it and see how fragile the axis look - stretched to the breaking point.

Actions: Japan naval, GE land, Italy combined.
Japan moves to CA (one carrying a GE Mar division to the E. Med). The Japanese move a number of units around, including a CP to the Mariana's to put Truk back in supply.
The image below shows the potential naval combats and the search results through round 1 if I initiated combat.
Note the following reactions that I made for you.
In the The Marshall's, I reacted out your Mustang stationed on Midway to the 0-box.
In the Central Pacific, the Dauntless stationed on Midway covered the 0-box.

Polynesia naval combat. I only engaged the 0-box. Made it a sub combat and destroyed both CP with the 7 SP. I stayed, but did not commit the subs for round 2.

Marianas naval combat. I engaged both boxes with 4 SP. Made it a naval air, and used surprise to increase my A-A 2 columns.
Lost my lead bomber on your first roll (JP choice). On the return fire, you had the choice of aborting your fighter or bomber, I chose your bomber for you and send it back to Kwajalein. In the second round, I had you abort one of my bombers (it was your choice) and then I shot down the fighter. Good second D damage control resulted in only damaging the CA.

The allies have the choice of initiating searches in the two zones shown below. Will you?

East Med.
1. Yes, the RN will make a desperate play and attempt to initiate combat there. Their one and only objective is to isolate and sink the Italian CP in the 0-box. The RN will stay and continue with this objective until search rolls fail or combat ends. If their objective is met, the RN will flee through the Red Sea to the safety of the port in Aden.
Bismark Sea.
2. Yes, the USN will attempt to initiate combat. Their objective is to destroy, damage or abort the IJN transport with marine corps. After that they will assume the best defensive posture available that keeps them in the area. USN forces will stay for the duration. Return any aborted planes to the most forward bases(s) that remain in supply.

In the East Med. The Italians reacted out a fighter to the 0-box. Search rolls of 4/5 resulted in no combat.
In the Bismarck Sea I did not commit the US sub for round 1 nor react out any JP aircraft. The search rolls were 9/3 and the allies found with 6 SP. Thinking ahead I foresaw a need of 2 SP to lower AA to ne and 2 SP to raise the result from an A to a D. That left 2 SP to use in A-A, so I raised your attack 1 level. (+2).
Result shown below. The JP got to choose what to abort and aborted your bomber to Rabaul. You got the choice of aborting the NAV or the front fighter. I had the JP zero aborted (went to Manila area). Combat ended for round 1.
IN round 2 I committed the US subs since there were no A-S factors with any of the US fighters, but it was for nought with search rolls of 10/9.
