-----------
5x CVs are about to start their 1 Aug 44 upgrades, but SigInt is reporting something big moving west into the Bering Sea at 168,45 which is 5 hexes NW of Dutch Harbour. I have a hunch that this is the same contact that SigInt has been spotting moving from Seattle / Prince Rupert areas over the last week or so.
To prepare a welcoming party, all CV Groups that are about to lose their CVs for a month just transferred to the IJAAF airfield at Iwaki as the weather was clear, on their way towards Hokkaido.
If the Allies do venture into the Kuriles the CV fighter units will be nearby to help greet them, along with their land based brothers flying George-5s.
The CV strike units will be kept in reserve and only used if needed.
I’ve just noticed that the oversized CV groups seem to have had a few fighters placed into reserve so that the total of ready planes = 110% of the CV capacity. On that basis, resizing to 110% only might be a better way to go instead of just under 115%.
Combined Fleet CV, BB and CA task forces have been ordered to move from Kure and Yokosuka towards Hakodate and Wakkanai.
Combined Fleet hasn’t moved in months, so all ships and air groups are in perfect condition.
