While I feel your pain about constant bombing raids, even as allies you have to click escape, but I'm not sure what alternatives you've left for Andy.
It is also a 'feature' of the engine that the raids fragment. That just makes for more raids to click through.
In any other sphere you've pretty handily handed him his backside, not sure what else he's supposed to if he's to continue?

Btw, where is the KB right now? A little bit of convoy hunting in the Indian Ocean may actually help with the situation in Burma. Splashing some unit coming from Aden or Capetown to India or Australia with a light strike force can't be bad. It's not like he had that many CVs down there...

Yes, LRCAP brings down transports but ops losses are usually considerable.
Not seen a single convoy near Timor and Burma for ages, just a few old merchants - going up towards Bombay would give Andy a free hand in the Central Pacific.
For now KB's presence is classified as Ultra Secret [;)] Much of the battle fleet is in Singapore, performing repairs and upgrades. KB is 100% ready for battle and in 2
days the Shinano will arrive in the Home Islands.

Andy say's he's on the move again...his ground quakers are certainly moving, not so sure about the dirt dwellers though!-)
Massive air strikes against our frontline positions in Burma; results were as expected when attacking dug in troops in the jungle.

More surprisingly the enemy Army attacked our jungle front south of Katha; I don't consider this Army strong enough to pose a threat and it only
achieved a 1-3 results. Our units were not fully supplied but got enough to repell attacks from an enemy force 2 times stronger than what we're presently facing.
- Possible this is just a diversion to draw out our reserves.

The carrier Shinano arrives, great news! 45 elite pilots are fleshed out by another 30+ trained reinforcements and veterans.
A most welcome adition to the KB, the Taiho and Shinano are the strongest ships in the fleet.

I would say, that supply was used in last attack, so now your units are almost empty. Drop some supply from transport planes.
Also, it seems, that there are no radar there. It can be useful, if you decide to LRCAPtrap there.

What is this WILDCAT Flak lose from your last report? I do not think, you can use WILDCATs at search, so why it was shot down? Are there WILDCATs on ground attack in Burma?

All troops were 110% supplied before this attack, so air attacks and ground assault caused the reduction.
Not sure it will help ferrying in supplies with the light Jap transports. Having a CAP trap sooo many hexes away from our main base is difficult and nearby bases remain firmly closed.

It does, so we get a crack carrier but have to get 40% of the pilots from the pools, but that's ok.
Yeah, there is a Wildcat recon type that flies over Palmyra....

I am one of these AAR readers but not posting much in others AARs there . I started very late reading your entire AAR - gr8 job !!!
 
however, Andy seems for me a good ground and Air commander but how he handled his Navy....well, there are certain things that I would have done different. this navy handlig led to some catastrophic desasters but were a great fun to read.  PS : I dont read his AAR, as I dont want to give information away in any matter.

Yeah, Andy is an Army man and now he wants me to suffer in Burma for my sins at sea [8|]

Despite what I thought the Allied Army made up of Indian chefs and Chink cooks routed our troops north of Schwebo today.
A modified AV of 360 for 3 divisions with 4 levels of forth is quite insane. No way air attack should be that effective.
- So now we're having an escalated conflict in my and Andy's favorite theatre....

Reinforcements are being shipped to Burma, no choice her.
The Air Force has also been told to step up their effort. 200 Helens had been ordered to attack enemy LCU today but not a single bomber flew.
So I've ordered our crack fighters to move to Magwe and excert Air Supremacy missions there. This will force Andy to divert focus from our ground troops
and make it possible for our LBA to strike back if required.

By fighting over friendly turf the number of pilots KIA will be severly reduced and I hope the combo of Franks and George's backed up by Tonys and Tojos (bait)
will be enough to hurt the enemy.

Burma....

Hmm strange, Better keep your bombers away, until enemy enters clear hex. Counterattack seems to be your best option, otherwise you will have to leave whole valley.

Also, some of fighter units seems to have low morale. Prepare some air units from DEI for transfer, when you get some loses, you will withdraw them from Burma, and rebuild at DEI, and units from DEI will enter combat. As I said, Allies have no heavy ships to support DEI invasion now.

If Andy moves into the open he will have to both keep on attacking our LBA, defend against our fighters and bombers targetting both his

Sinking the enemy!

Andy says he's going all out for ...Rangoon!! with 300 fighters and 200 heavies next turn [X(]
- Reason: he spotted 300 fighters at Magwe and wanted to hit me when dispersed.

Being a paranoid sonofa that have played this game for years I of course moved all fighters back from Magwe last turn - I know the dangers of dispersing.
So the 200 Army bombers that didn't want to fly were sent elsewere and 650 fighters will await Andy's onslaught on 40% CAP. Most fighters are at 30k feet with some Nicks at 15k.

Pretty sure this will be quite a feast; no we can test out our new fighters! [;)]

Had a look at the turn and it was....horse manure for both sides! [8|]

Andy's bombers came in almost unescorted; We had some 240 fighters in the air but 95% of the bombers got through without being engaged.
They nuked the base and destroyed a 160 ac on the ground.

THEN a huge sweep came in, T-bolts all of them. Indecisive engagement, almost no dogfights.
Then the tail end charlies arrived and got chewed up by our CAP, ca 60 Allied heavies shot down and many more damaged.
Most still got through and continued to drop bombs and destroy ac on the ground.

We lost "4"!!!! pilots KIA today, so pilots on the ground are safe but even in a huge base complex with 5 forts the planes on 40% CAP standby
are massacred on the ground by a "tiny" bomber formation of 100 heavies. The heavies really shot up our fighters, hundred more are damaged.

Still, most our fighters never engaged, radar and all.

Most losses were older ac types, 70 Franks and George fighters immediately replacable.
So I don't cry about losses, I cry about not understanding this game anymore.

Honestly; with all the weird things happening in the air and on the ground I find myself questioning if it's really worth spending time on.

As I interpret it: You should NOT stack an AF with ac - just like you should not stack your carriers in one hex.
The results today shows that A2A is very random and that the bombers most of the time will break through.

I'm going to disperse the fighter force at Rangoon, the 3 surrounding bases within 1-2-3 hexes will receive 200 fighters each.
This is the only effective way of saving any given base from nuclear devastation.

NB! SO glad I moved the 200 army bombers out of Rangoon, they would have all perished - and I don't have a huge reserve of modern Helens!

what about your radar at Rangoon? When I send hundreds of heavies to bomb Rainer´s bases then on the first day they usually hit no or nearly no fighters on the ground as they all get airborne with very high pre warning times, absolutely comparable to my Allied pre warning times. The first two waves had an ok pre warning time to me, wonder why your fighters didn´t scramble in real numbers. I doubt my opponent keeps his fighters at really high Cap levels as this just wrecks every squadron in no time.

About the way the strikes went in, well, no comment. [:D] What 300 fighters did to the first strike, well, no comment either as it would not be a nice comment.

when you now start dispersing your fighters then that´s exactly what I would love to see in my game, the only thing that keeps me from attacking are massed fighters at one base. Of course at some point I usually attacked when I had to but as soon as I see smaller numbers of aircraft somewhere I´m just being invited to attack and when I attack, I usually use the hammer. When I attacked these really massed fighter concentrations then I also had to pay for it, sometimes more (when the strikes were totally borked) sometimes less (when the strikes came in in a more or less sane way).

Actually improved leaking CAP in AE makes AF dispersion much more viable as a strategy, as far as Ive seen. My current opponent has very well developed bases in Kavieng, Green Island and Buka in addition to Rabaul, and I just can't attack one of them without being assaulted by the nearby CAP. The most direct result of such an approach is that none of his AF is overstacked - and thus much less vulnerable to mass bombing - while still maintaining an overall big punch. The main reason why I seem unable to blast more than half a dozen plane every time I visit Kavieng with my 120 B-17s, which is a size 5 AF with 80 IJA bombers, is neither altitude (10k), nor weather (sometimes better than your "moderate rain" affair), nor dice rolls (for it happens all the times like that): disruptive CAP and non-overstacking are enough to do a large part of the trick so far...

Do fort levels help on airfield defence vs bomber attacks ? they seem to with ground losses but planes on the ground i'm never sure of tbh.

What about radar, it works whenever it feels like it...with enemy planes passing straight over our bases enroute to Rangoon we should
have had all 650 fighters airborne to meet the bomber streams and then pursure them back home.
- Andy says he considers Rangoon as 1 airfield, I say it's not; it's more like 9.

I've tried fighting with dispersed bases before and it works as long as the Allies are fighting at long range and wears out before they can close down more
than a few of the defensive base complexes. I've only very seldom witnessed fighters destroyed on the ground when set to 40% CAP and launching at incoming bombers.
Todays bombers didn't hit much because of foul weather, but they keep flying each day.

Not sure about that Rob, it should help - having concrete shelters for airplanes (at least a given number) but not so sure it's calculated into the game.

Looks like we have sync problems as well; we're not seeing the same things during combat.
Andy says his Tbolts are sweeping in 5x27 formations while I see one massive infeffective sweep.

Again the bombers and fighters come back to Rangoon while the mediums hammer Magwe.
We don't loose so many ac this turn, rather positive odds actually and we only loose 6 pilots in all theatres.
- I can replace air frames and as long as my pilots live I'm content.

Another 30 Allied heavy bombers down and more damaged as well as another 30 fighters or so.

Well, we just have to hang on - I'm not sacrificing defense of other regions but we need to hold Burma.
