Nice score, John! [8D]
Yeah. Sweet. Just gotta hang out on the docks with smelly boats and smellier fishermen [8D] And hope your dog doesn't pee on another Captain's boots [:D]
They cleaned out nice, thick and plump. A little butter, paprika, lemon juice, fresh parsley, Worcestershire, Onion sauce and a touch of Mirin, for a marinade. A nice cornbread stuffing, and some new asparagus, marinated in the same stuff, done en grillado, like the fish. Oh my goodness, life is good here on the Gulf Coast. My neighbor hunts and I got a big tupperware of venison sausage, so he gets some rightous fish in return. Oh my goodness, life is good here on the Gulf Coast. Recipes on request. Ciao. JWE

If they are calling you, Dixie, that is a good sign! Keep it up!
Hopefully they'll still be calling in 18-24 months! It was a job that would've been in 4-6 weeks, so a bit premature I guess. I can't even escape from the RAF early as we're short of my trade at the moment (and I have to go the get cold in the summer).
Ah well, it gives me two years to get my foot into a few more doors [:D] I'm still waiting for a billionaire* Hurricane pilot to send me an offer though [;)]
*Doesn't have to be a billionaire though, a multi-millionaire would do.

Hey CB, I saw in your AAR that you're heading for Texas quite soon?
San Antonio?
Aye. Looking to get the house on the market in June. Hopefully things will progress quickly and we will be down there later in the summer.

Well, it's Spring in Gulf Coast Alabama; it's 73 and the buds are out, the pollen is covering the cars, and life is good. Went to Billy's Seafood on Bayou Bon Secor to get some comestibles. A shrimp boat was in, unloading, so I wandered down the dock. "Yo Hey, got any fish in there?" "Only some groupers and rockfish off to the side." "Can I get some grouper?" "Hail yeah, if you gut it and clean it yosef." Got two nice 10 pound fish for $10.00 that would clean out to about 6-8 pounds of filets. A little work for a lot of goodness. Gosh, I love the Gulf Coast. JWE
Sweet! [8D]

Good luck on your adventure, Andre! I spent last summer doing this, as you know. This summer, I'll be sipping drinks by the pool while watching your progress.

Heh. One more incentive to do the same "Home - Las Vegas - San Antonio - Home" trip that I did in 2007. [:)]
I might have told you, but I have a friend who served with me in Kosovo that live in SA that I still keep in contact with. Went too see him and met his family then and he has asked me to come over again. Haven't really had the time to do it again, but you never know if an opportunity comes up [:)]

I assume you'll do me the courtesy of contacting me before your trip? It would be great to see you. Provided that you don't mind family company, we should have a suitable place to stay for you. Come to think of it, I must respectfully insist upon you spending a day or two with us.
Also, I'd strongly encourage a road trip to the Museum of the Pacific War in Fredericksburg, TX-only an hour or so from where we'll be. [:)]
Maybe AW1Steve can get off his duff and join us too...[;)]

Evening tithe... Having a bit of a blower here tonight, so the last few days of glorious spring weather have been put on hiatus. BOO!
Today we expect almost +25 degrees Centigrade wit blue skies and sun... full blown spring... the past week was similar with, albeit, slightly lower temperatures (16-17-18 degrees Centigrade)...

Good news Martin!
BTW, is this job still in aviation?

No, it would have been as a locomotive technician. I think I'm probably done with aviation, for a few reasons, but the railways are appealing to me. The continued chance of playing around with big machines is sounding good.

RGR Martin!
BTW, that would be diesel locomotive technician - right?
Leo "Apollo11"
P.S.
No jobs in civil aviation maintenance (British Airways and such)? I would have thought that such jobs are quite well paid...

Yes, there are several depots within a couple of hours of where I live currently, hopefully the work will still be there in a couple of years.
As far as civil aviation goes, there are jobs out there. But I won't get the same level of responsibility/initiative as I have now. It's a backup plan, but not much more than that currently.
