Mother-in-law and nephews are here. Then it's back to work tomorrow [:(] Then I need to try and get Sunday night off work so I'm in a fit state to do my annual CCS training on Monday/Tuesday. Never mind, three weeks leave coming up at the end of the month [8D]

Blimey! In that case I appreciate what you did for me yesterday even more. [&o]
GBL, Do we want to ask what Dixie did for you yesterday that has earned your gratitude? Shouldn't this be in your "batting for the other side" thread? [:'(]

Don't get excited pervert - see post 25598 [:'(]

New underpants, please!

I just came downstairs from bed after nights to be told by my wife that I had a big spider on me. She wasn't bloody kidding. It was the biggest I have ever seen in the UK - about two and a half hairy inches across - and on the back of my neck!

BTW, my wife simply hates spiders... I can only imagine what she would do if something like that happen to her or me...

Barfight? [&:]

Pitbull attack.

I am afraid to ask how...

Leo "Apollo11"

Some rocket scientist tied up his untrained pitbull to a street lamp on a corner. I was standing on said corner waiting to cross.....within reach of it. Dog seemed friendly enough. Didn't give any signals to stay away. Still.....I am always careful with strange animals. I spoke to him....had his attention.....again, seemed friendly...tail wagging. I slowly gave him my outer hand to sniff. I had about a half-second of warning when his facial expression changed.....was pulling hand back when i found it in his mouth.

Owner came running out of the pizza joint he was purusing and of course said the words we always expect in some circumstances when one has blood dripping from their extremity......"OH HE NEVER DOES THAT???!!!"

Jackass.

He and his pooch were fortunate that I'm a dog lover and a former pitbull owner. Showed him the stump (ok...exageration but you get the gist) and told him that he'd better address this "issue" before the next incident where THIS NEVER HAPPENS and he gets arrested, sued, and his animal put down. I should have reported it. What if it had been a small child? But i didn't want the animal punished for the owner's stupidity.

No good deed goes unpunished.....and I have a 1000 hospital bill.....and the jackass probably laughs about it with his friends when talking about the living extension of his manhood.

Hi all,

BTW, Nik, have you seen my question to you regarding official updated WitE manual I made - can you load it on your Kindle and read it OK?

I ask because I made it "US Letter sized" PDF... I am still struggling to create proper updated eBook version...

Nik,

If you want my opinion, you should have reported it. Far too often these 'he never does that' cases turn out to be, 'he hasn't mauled anyone since last Tuesday'. At least if there was a record on this dog and the dumbass owner, there could be some decisions made the next (inevitable) time it happens. Instead, this can is getting kicked down the road.

The owner was stupid, tying up his dog like that to the lamp post. No doubt. He's culpable.

The dog isn't necessarily an innocent here, though. To exist in our society, dogs must follow certain rules. Rule #1: Don't bite humans. Rule #2: See rule #1. Failure to follow these rules-regardless of whether they have a dumbass owner or not-has consequences. Particularly for an American Staffordshire Terrier-ish phenotype. But that's the way it's got to be.

I'm happy that it wasn't some 4 year old getting her face torn off, instead of you being bitten on your hand. However, it could very well be some kid getting nailed the next time.

Have you personally been vaccinated for rabies? Do you have protective titers? Do you know if the dog that bit you was vaccinated? Do you know anything about the contact information for this person to find this information out?

Thankfully, domestic canine rabies is uncommon in this country-due to our stringent vaccination standards. However, it's a major problem in other parts of the world. We're not immune to its spread, particularly if more dumbass owners don't vaccinate their animals.

Anyways, if you want to talk about this some more PM me. I'm getting a little worked up here and I'll avoid the rest of the diatribe...

Nik,

I bit my tongue at first, but Chickenboy is right x10. Plus, it's your business but I figure you don't have $1,000 bucks to toss away right now. More if it gets infected. The only thing redeeming about the guy is that he didn't go postal on you, blaming you for what his dog did. Beyond that, the guy is a total butt-hat and you should not be paying the bill for him. Based on my dealings with people, 95% chance he won't learn a thing from your generosity toward him. Be nice but make him pay the bills and he just might learn.

Report it to the police (better late than never), find out who he is, and file a small claims court suite against him (talk to the court clerk to find out if that's the right route where you are, otherwise do what the clerk tells you).

I agree!

At a minimum, there is no way that you should have been the one paying the $1000 medical bill! [X(]

Yes....i know now i should have at least reported it. (Will never forget the elderly Asian couple that witnessed it. They were looking at me like i was from Mynok's planet for not raising holy terror at having just been bitten....instead just staring at my bleeding hand with a contemplative look on my face)

Too late now though. I did not get the guy's info. He "claims" the dog had all his shots. To be honest i was going to take my chances with infection save for the fact that i'd not had a Tetnus in years so with that sad knowledge i knew i had to go to the ER for a shot. Hence the $1000 bills from the ER and the attending Physician. Gonna try calling their respective billing depts and try to get them either reduced or written off. I don't have insurance and am only working part time at the moment.

New underpants, please!

I just came downstairs from bed after nights to be told by my wife that I had a big spider on me. She wasn't bloody kidding. It was the biggest I have ever seen in the UK - about two and a half hairy inches across - and on the back of my neck!

Seriously? You need to head to your nearest police station and hand over your testicles.

Nik,

I was wondering about that $1,000.00. But then you said emergency room. That is why I waited 12 hours before I went to the clinic for my shoulder. No emergency room for this kid, unless there is something like a reinforcement rod protruding through (not into) my body. Those emergency room bills are killer's. I took the pain rather than my meager wallet.

To bad you didn't get that guys info. I would have loved to watch Judge Judy throw his ass around the courtroom....like a pitbull.[:D]
