HiHi

I think Rule of thumb is you can't ceed Protectorates, I was looking at ceeding the Danish province of Norway +, in the 1803 game and there doesn't seem to be any way to do that.

Cant remember Francks 'House rule' from the other game in detail but it seemed fair at the time, so if anyone can remember pop it up here for quick discusion.

The rule was cede back all single provinces taken from multiprovince protectorates at the end of a conflict unless you also took the capital province of said protectorate in which case you keep it.

Also dont believe you can cede a protectorate, only liberate it.

So, if I've got this right, I must liberate Friesland (or whatever the Dutch province is called) and France must liberate Berg in addition to whatever other conditions I impose on them (and I'm able to impose many, many conditions, hehe)?

Is this agreed? I need to know before I send my turn tonight. I'm fine with this, though it will cost both me and France an additional diplomatic action to fulfill this.

HiHi

This is my only my opinion but as it seems it's a bug in the game that allows protectorate provinces to not automatically revert to the orriginal owner at the end of a war, then folk should not have to use up their Surrender treaty points to fix this, hence the 'House rule' ie thats done under a seperate treaty (if indeed we can).

Dont believe it will cost each of you a diplomatic action. Whoever initiates would send a treaty where they cede one province in exchange for the other party ceding the other. Just one diplomatic action.

Note this rule only applies to protectorates, so AI controlled minors can be dismembered by players at will.

Hey lenin,

Actually I think only Berg needs to be liberated as Friesland is the capital of Batavia. Assuming I understand the house rule properly. I went ahead and attempted to liberate Berg through a treaty, hopefully it will work.

As a side note I think I may have shot myself in the foot by liberating Piedmont earlier when I surrendered to Austria. Looking back I think I could have kept it, oh well just adds to the mounting challenge. [:D]

Edit: Just saw Mus's post... if this is true, let me know as I would need to redo my turn that I just sent. [:D]

Don't bother to change your turn Bill, I'll just liberate Friesland then we are all quits.

Hehe, I should go and read other people's posts and look at the map properly before rushing in a turn. Guess who went and liberated Batavia because they weren't paying attention?
