The Russian army is coming!

The main action these days is the Russian front. The Japanese army is trying to extract itself from Central Manchuria and form a cohesive line. I think we will succeed in getting the bulk of the North front army out safely at this point. About 4-5 divisions worth of troops were destroyed or abandoned along the long march from the Chita front. Almost all of these simply evaporated due to B-29 attack - almost none of the losses were due to enemy ground action which has been sporadic.

Jzanes is the exact opposite of greyjoy. Whereas greyjoy is direct, Jzanes is indirect. Both are highly competent and dangerous opponents. Playing both at the same time makes it hard to anticipate how they will act and react.

Total Japanese strength in Manchuria/Korea is around 15,000 AV. Russian strength is likely higher, maybe 20,000.

A bombs in less than a month... anyone know the exact date? I'm kind of curious to see what they do.

Less than a year to go in the game, but since our hopes of lasting that long have long since evaporated, the Japanese high command is defining new "victory conditions" for itself. (These are personal goals more than actual victory conditions, which of course are hard coded.)

If we last past August 15 (should do so), we're going to consider than a draw.

If we last past Christmas, we're going to consider that a minor victory.

Anything after that is gravy [8D]

Yes, I agree with that. However, I also think that a standard HR should be that allies and Soviets cannot stack together (possibly unless the Japanese do attack the Russians, as seen here). This would have removed my justification for attacking anyway [8|]

What I mean is that Jzanes uses more foreplay and tries to make me feel comfortable before violating me - those Italians go straight for the goods

What I mean is that Jzanes is more cautious, which is often a good thing. Being cautious means you are less likely to take losses or experience setbacks, so it can be a very good thing. I think I'm on the cautious side. But you are also less likely to surprise the other side like Greyjoy regularly does.

And not to totally categorize people's play style - eveyone varies a lot. It's just a different road to victory.

The big evacuation was a success. Most of the remaining Japanese troops spread around the "empire" have been safely returned to Japan.

Roughly 50 merchant ships and transports were lost in the evacuations, but these won't be needed anyore.

There's only one fight left to fight: the battle of the home islands.

All Japanese troops are from now on going to fight to defend Japan itself. May the emperor imbibe our pixels with the spirit of Bushido Banzai!

The remains of the Chinese coast... The last stand will take place at Shanghai. It probably won't last that long, but the Chinese colaborators and their Japanese masters will go down fighting rather than surrender.

Speaking of nuclear warfare ... never underestimate using a small tactical nuclear weapon on a strategic target ...[;)] I wonder what two targets will get the wrath of an uncontrolled chain reaction and free neutrons? Will the Allies wait until September? Inquiring minds ponder ..

We've just entered August 1945.

The pace of allied operations is astounding. Not too much left of the empire. Expecting an a-bomb soon. Anyone know how they work? Anyone seen one used?

Interesting situation developing in Manchuria. I can form a line of mostly rough terrain, and the Japanese line covers this. But the Russians are sneaking around the side to outflank.

We really need to main army of 8000+ AV to counter these forces, but the Russians are able to make better use of the road system in Western Korea, and they aren't being harrassed from the air like we are. We might have to get really clever about this one.
