USSR rail three militia towards the West Front.

The Chinese communists liberate Tientsin. CW enter Libya and capture Bardia. Army Group Bilotte move towards Lyons. Army Group Zhukov continue to advance slowly into Finland. Army Group Timoshenko continue to advance into Manchuria and begins to outflank the Japanese defence.

No land combats.

France rebase a fighter to Nice.

No reorganization.

The Japanese send a TRS loaded with an INF to the Arabian Sea.

The Combined Fleet makes a show of force in the China Sea.

The Italian Fleet conserve precious fuel while Admiral Campioni potters about in his garden.

The Japanese in the north of China show and interst in the Chinese Communists and a TERR heads for Changchun.

The small German army continues its movement east - well those that were not disorganised anyway. In the extreme north the Soviet cavalry south of Murmansk is attacked.

The Italian Army conserve precious fuel while Marshal Graziani re-orders his stamp collection.

The Japanese groundstriking is rubbish again...

The Combined Fleet orders the battleships to close the shore to commence serious amounts of gunfire aimed at the Chinese Communists on the coast.

Aircraft are also sent in to bring the odds up to 6:1. Probably not needed as fractional odds should do the trick but I am not leaving anything to chance.

So that leaves two attacks:

- South of Murmansk
- Tientsin

The Finns attack at 4:1 no modifiers - the Soviets have the choice of Assault or Blitz. Which is it to be?

The result is a 7 which means the cavalry is destroyed, but sadly, the Finns are all disorganised.

The Tientsin attack is 5:1;6:1B? so assume its 5:1 no modifiers on the Assault table.

The result was a 10 and the Chinese 1st Infantry Corps is destroyed.

The impulse ends with couple of air rebases; one in China and one on the Western Front.

The weather is a 10 and is Fine everywhere.

No declarations of war.

CW take a combined impulse while France take a land impulse.

No Port Strikes.

CW send a fighter group to the Italian Coast and another to the Eastern Mediterranean.

CW send a TRS, escorted by HMS Royal Sovereign and HMS Norfolk, to the North Sea where it embarks the Belgian 1st Corps.

CW decide to initiate combat in the Italian Coast sea area.

France decline to send any aircraft to the aid of the British fighter.

Will Italy send out any air support?

Neither side finds in the Italian Coast.

Since Germany has so many fighters available CW decide to begin bombing the German cities by night. Or at least one mission to try this new idea.

CW bomb Cologne by night. Germany has plenty of day fighters that can scramble even though it is night time but if they do they will suffer a penalty. CW can counter intercept with one night fighter (Defiant). Since this is the first night mission in our AAR games I cut in the rule below.

Image
Picture from May/Jun 40 Impulse #5 (Allied) - Strategic Bombing

RAC: 14.2.3 Night missions (option 52)
When an aircraft or carrier plane flies a mission, you indicate that it is flying a night mission by right clicking
on the unit and selecting night mission from the popup unit menu. If you don’t, it is assumed to be a day mission. A
status indicator on the unit is shown when it is flying a night mission.
Different aircraft can fly a day mission and a night mission into the same hex in the same step. You always
fight naval air combats and port attacks during the day.
Air-to-air combat can only occur between opposing aircraft if they are both flying at night or both flying
during the day. There can be separate air-to-air combats in the same hex - one for the day mission and one for the
night.
Halve the tactical and strategic factors of aircraft flying night missions.
During air-to-air combat (see 14.3.2) at night, all aircraft except night fighters (those aircraft with a black
circle around its air-to-air rating) achieves one result less than normal.
Thus an AX result becomes a DX, a DX
becomes an AA, an AA becomes a DA and so on. A DC result is unaffected. FTRs other than the front fighter
contribute nothing to their side's air-to-air strength during night missions unless they are night fighters.

[Clarification. The pilot death result is unchanged - Jan. 18, 2008.]
Resolve the missions after both day and night air-to-air combats are concluded. If you have flown both day
and night ground support or strategic bombardment missions against the same hex, total their values. You don’t
resolve them as separate day and night missions.
After it lands, any land unit you air transported, or paradropped, at night becomes disorganized.
Paradropping units must still fight any required combat normally (see - 11.15).

On the basis that the bombing factors are halved the Germans do not fly.

Yes. They are halved to one that is shown on the counter. But the +1 on the die roll for 'not intercepted' does still apply. So it has 40% chance of hitting the target.

I forgot that you have a AA unit that can fire at my bombers. Will you use it to send my bombers back without any chance of doing any damage?

So we have the following attacks:

Southern China: 3:1 - Chiang can bring HQ support to bear - will he do so?
South of Tsian: 3:1
North China: 2:1
One attack in Finland that I will get to once I know about China.

Sure. Why not? It is not like he will succeed. [:)]
