Turn 87, 11th february 1943

Always the same areas involved in fights. This will continue till mud but now I have decided a plan for spring/summer offensive. Fights will continue but behind, I will prepare this strategical move

Always fights in several parts of the front. Below the Kursk Voronejh area



But recon has shown something interesting: Pzd in reserve are gone away north of Stalingrad

Obviously he's preparing for the Kursk offensive in the summer. [:D]

It's disappointing how few losses the Germans take even while losing a battle.

2700 guns, 10/1 in men and 370 AFv on my side the a retreat...and 4% of the strength lost... something weird effectively.

Let's post the evolution of the OOB before the fights



I pay the price for losing all Caucasus. I'm now far stronger than the germans in terms of arts and air forces but I'm hardly above 8M men... I lack of manpower

Recovery will be harder than expected... As shown on the rifle corps screen, my units are roughly at 90% TOE. Annoying.

This is an awesome AAR, have just spent 2 hours reading it and I going to follow it till it ends, best one I have seen so far and quite tense. I have not played in a long time and consider myself a newbie. Wanted to get a game going against a human but an afraid of how much of a beating I will take from anyone other than another newb[:D] , but it is fun seeing veteran players do this.

Just a note for followers. I am on holidays and Stef will be too. Probably there won't be many updates in next 4 weeks.

There is no Holidays on the eastern front [:)]

We have a WWI game style since november 1942. But it will change with clear weather.

Always low intensity fight like this one north of Stalingrad. A 10/1 ratio in men is required to win, and without any reserve activation...

The Don is currently frozen (ice level 10) so I don't have any supply problem in this area.

Back to the duty after superb holidays.

Is it possible to do twice the same mistake during the same game: YES, I CAN

Strong german counterattack near Astrakhan... my army is trapped . It will cost me between 60k/80k men... I feel stupid

That may be the last really significant use of the Italians in this game. Kudos to the Axis for a smart play here. But although this is painful or embarrassing, I don't think the cost is all that high. Those look like low value units and you will make up that lost manpower quickly. Once you crack the German lines in or near the Don Bend he will have to evacuate all the territory in the North Caucasus.
