Weather is a total adventure (in addition to being a geo junkie I am likewise with weather). 71 zones, starting on Russia tonight.
A bit of a conundrum for both the Nile and Mesopotamia flood valleys. I know that they only started to really go to town with dikes and flood control and such. In SC if I make it semi-arid, I lose the Mud setting as the first menu is all greyed out. If I go with Temperate I lose dust storms.
So decided to go with Temperate for both so I could mimic the seasonal floods with the Mud setting:
I also decided to put a few secondary tributaries into the Nile Delta. Figured the loss of the dust storms is more than outweighed by players being aware of the possibility of floods and planning accordingly (they aren't a given note as in some years the flow can be rather low).
That's ingenious Strider...
Yeah...after Aswan Dam was completed and filled....no more yearly flooding of the Delta.
Rommel will have an even more difficult time at El Alamein. He will have to time it so that if he breaks through, it will be the dry season so he can motor on to Suez.

As said, I stopped using Dropbox very early on, and that link would have led to a very early build anyway, as does SIPRES' link as well. Right now the map itself is almost finished, but there's a lot of work to do on both the OOBs and base stats; note I plan to have a private testing team at first. Not to worry I want to play it as much as you guys, but I promised the WitP guys I would update that build first for the next W@W patch. I will however try to import the WIE one(s) here into W@W, as preliminary tests show it should be easy peasy to do.

Just a thought but could Rail Movement have a section from strategic movement to enhancement action points like moving on pave roads. This would give a modder three road type system pre-Railroad.
The Railroad system would maintain its supply carry load. But some thought could be put into this also.
Moscow anyone.

Update time at long last:
Counters courtesy of
SIPRES, the original creator of the map.
And I have an official name: Crusade in Europe. That was my very first computer wargame, a Sid Meier creation available on early computers like the Commodore 64; my ultimate aim here has been to recreate that scale and that gameplay. Yes, I'll be springing for Ike's war memoirs of the same name...
The above OOB for the Polish campaign is VERY preliminary. For mainly visual chrome reasons I put in an SS unit and a Polish Armored Train (tho the gamey way the latter are used in vanilla games likely means they won't be available once this is actually up and running).
Otherwise I've been hard at work copying over scripts by the bushel load (not made any easier by the need to alter them for city hex coordinates and unit distances and numbers and such-convoys are done but everything needed to be rerouted there, waypoint by waypoint). Fleets have almost all been added. Not sure about who will be Majors-toying with making Spain one (in which case Poland gets demoted), but that is complicated by them remaining neutral for the entire real war combined with the need for a human to actively run them when Franco was pretty determined to stay out.
The 1st alpha may indeed be ready by the end of the month, but as already indicated I plan to convene a private testing group before this goes public. Some of you have already volunteered so not to worry I'll be in touch, BUT otherwise DON'T officially volunteer just yet. For various private (non-wargaming) reasons I'll likely only be able convene everyone on Discord most likely by late April at the latest and we can get to work.
So we are ALMOST there! Whew.

Me too.
I alas am right in the middle of moving (signing endless forms, jumping through infinite hoops, commencing my cleaning and packing), as well as having responsibilities in another state which I'll need to plan a trip to in the near future. I
am spending most evenings tweaking the thing (I am fully into the Barbarossa build, but deleting/modifying all of the 1939 scripts is a very daunting and involved process).
Since building any AI scripts for either build is a fair way down the priority list, a solitaire play-through is the only way for a solo player to do it right now.
I just noticed this is the old thread. Here is the new one:
