Larry,
Looks like a good place to hold the Allies, it is in length which should help you as well.

What software do you use to make your images? I'm using LibreOffice, which limits the size of my images.

Have a good evening,
I'm hitting the print screen key and then pasting it in MSpaint, crop it, annotate it, and
then post that bad boy. Doesn't take long. Thanks for the question.

Brian has broken both sides front lines and is in the process of encircling them before
he destroys them. I'm still building the new MLR's.

Here's what it looks like after I've moved everybody. Some of the remnants are going
to be sacrificed to hold up the Allies long enough for the rest of them to get away.

Thanks for the info on how you post - I may try that the next time. I like LibreOffice because I can save the presentations on my computer in case I want to look at what I've done sometime in the future, but having more space to play with would be nice.

It is too bad that you can not destroy the roads as you pull back...

I can save what I've done in MSPaint as a file too. And I've got a lot more space. I can use
the virtual disk while I'm working so that there's effectively no limit on the size of the image.
I've been using MSPaint for so long I don't much want to chamge now. It does almost everything
I need from image software except processing PNG's.

And about the roads....yeah, I can blow the bridges but it only takes one artillery shell to make
a really nifty crater in a dirt road. I guess the thought is that the Allies would just go
around the crater so why bother but some mines would be good. Too bad we don't have a weapon called
a mine. Just lay it in a hex and walk away. That kind of thing. Let's just pretend that those
kinds of events have been abstracted for us.

Brian did a lot of attacking, perhaps a dozen individual combats and lots of RBC's and
his advance blasted a hole in my lines and now he's using the coastal road to get into
my backfield and there's nothing I can do about it.

I've received the 65th Infantry division and I need to rail them to the front ASAP to
use them as cannon fodder when the Panzers need to move again.

Here's the final look of the battlefield after I got through moving everybody. AT
guns and low value inf is being used to give the high value time to get away Scott
free. The MLR on the east is constructed but judging from the last battle I'm going
to need some troops in the mountains too when Brian tries to outflank me. The MLR
in the west is more complicated and is a little further away so it's not done yet
but there's not much left to do. This will buy enough time for the expected reinforcements
to arrive. Which reminds me, I need to take a look at what units that are coming in
the future.

Here's a look at the expected reinforcements and there's no large infusion of divisions
for a long time if ever. I haven't looked into it in depth, I gave it a glancing look
over and for the next couple of turns there's just these individual units. I need a
whole division and right quick.

I like your mine idea. Something along the lines of it takes more mp to move into a hex that you don't already own but I wonder if that would unbalance scenarios that are already written.

And now that there are naval rules it would be cool to have sea mines something along the lines
of how they are used in WITP-AE. I have no idea how much coding would have to change
to accomodate this idea but I'm guessing maybe "extensive". But we can dream. Thanks for posting
your idea. It's a good one.

Were either of those missiles actually employed in the Italian theater, or were they all just used to bombard England?
Hi DanNeely, thanks for your question. I actually don't know much aboout the V-1 but I think
the range was so short that they just reached London and weren't all that accurate and that
several V-1's were shot down by Allied planes. So my understanding is that they were used
against the British isles and nowhere else but I'm pretty sure they could duplicate the launch
equipment and use them in Russia or Italy. It wasn't until the V-2 that the Germans had a weapon
that couldn't be shot down but still it wasn't all that accurate. If I remember correctly. the
Germans experimented with a radio controled plane that was used as a bomb in that the plane was
deliberately flown into a collision with the target and there were problems with controling it
and nothing came of the procedure. They did develop a robot tank device that was less than the
size of a small car and was driven into it's target by a wire connection and the range was so
short that it wasn't practical and it wasn't used all that much.

Hs 293 and Fritz X, the world's first precision-guided munitions. These were radio-controlled rocket bombs. The Hs 293 was used against unarmoured targets; the much larger Fritz X could sink a battleship with a single hit. A single hit sank the Italian battleship Roma, and similar single hits crippled three Allied cruisers and the battleship Warspite, as well as sinking several merchant vessels. Luckily the Allies eventually worked out how to jam the radio signal, and that was the end of the German rocket bombs.

Or maybe you mean the "Mistel" bomb, which was basically a Ju-88 strapped to a Bf109 or Fw190, and converted to a bomb? They weren't deployed in the Italian campaign, but did knock out some bridges at the very end of the war.

Yes, that's what I'm talking about. You hit the nail on the head. Sounds like you know a lot more
about it than I do. Thanks very much for your report.

I received an email about it being my turn so I started it up and watched the combat
replay and saw how Brian was gaining hexes by his attacks on the west side but there's
not a lot of movement in the east. The war goes on.

Brian did some sea movement from one of the smaller islands moving the troops to the
port nnear Reggio of all places. That may mean he's going to move those troops to
the east side of the boot maybe. There were three Sea Int strikes but it didn't
stop his parade.

He did some attacks that gained him some hexes and he's advancing in the west but the
east side was quiet.

I heard troop movements and got glimpses of units moving north.

This turn Brian attacked on both sides and pushed my units back and gained several
hexes. I heard lots of moving of troops and there was two sea movement events with
several sea int interceptions. Both MLR's are ready.

Brian did some more attacking and gained some more hexes and it looks like he's
done with the west MLR because he's broken through. Quiet on the east side.

What I really enjoy about this ARR is that Larry is on the defensive side, getting a beating and still being a sport to provide detailed analysis of events.

Thank you Larry.

Hey there Steve dude. Brian is my favorite opponent and he's doing a good job and I'm learning a lot
about Italy's georgraphy and I'm having a blast. It's a good scenario and so far it's been fun.
My goal is not to win, just to have fun playing.

New moves from Brian. He's moving north on both sides and will meet my main MLR's
next turn probably.

Sorry if I missed it but did your opponent say he had a problem with the British Divisions? I have two 56th Infantry Divisions and two 46th Infantry Divisions....
