We shared the lastest news about the Campaign Series games and went over what to expect so far with the Vietnam 2.10 and Middle East 3.10 UPDATES coming out later this fall. After that we dove back in to the fifth scenario of the Dien Bien Phu series of scenarios. Our attacks into the Viet Minh lines are going well and we found some AAA guns that were the primary mission for the scenario. It is exciting to see the Event Points in action and really changes the whole dynamic of the game.

Well that was an interesting session today. After the usual Campaign Series briefing we finished up with the Dien Bien Phu 5th scenario. Upon successful completion of that, we started a brand new challenge with the Dien Bien Phu 6th scenario. This is a bit longer one and we are now playing back as the Viet Minh. With multiple divisions under our command, we're assaulting a series of five hills that are heavily defended by the French forces. I explain my attacks and detail how we are going to overwhelm the position. There's always a method to the madness!

This was a session about preparing for massive assaults. We attempted to probe into the French defences and try to make some progress with our encirclements of the primary French positions. It was a hard fight today and our Viet Minh soldiers were suffering a lot of casualties. It was a very good lesson to see how effective utilizing smoke for the advance units were. We were also a little successful on some of assaults on the bunker positions. We didn't capture any, but we can see the losses mounting for the French defenders. It's slow progress, but progress nevertheless!

We're making excellent progress in the Dien Bien Phu number six scenario. The French are dug in well and are causing mass casualties, but we managed to turn around the victory conditions from a major defeat to a major victory. It's still pretty early yet, so I am curious to see if there will be a mass counter attack. It is a slow grind though, the defences are well set up and interlocking, so it does take some planning to crack open the lines. Exciting times though with lots to learn!

Well that was a good session today. Lots of chatting and talking about how things are progressing and lots of good conversation. We went over the latest news about the pending CS Vietnam 2.10 and CS Middle East 3.10 BETA UPDATES before we returned the bloody mess of the Five Fills. We are playing through the Dien Bien Phu scenarios in order that were designed by David Galster. The fighting was brutal today, senseless violence on so many levels. But we are making some slow progress, even though there were a number of failed assaults. I'm glad it is night, as the French artillery is devastating!

I'm back in action and we went over the latest news in regards to the Campaign Series games. I showed off the latest goodies for Cold War and then discusses some new additions to the new CS Vietnam and CS Middle East BETA's, with the official versions slated to release on November 19th. After all that we dove back into the Dien Bien Phu series of scenarios and tried to make some progress. It's a bloody affair and we're slowly running out of darkness, but so far we're in an excellent position to deal with any French counterattacks. We have a plan to try to flank the positions, but alas, I'm not sure we'll make it by daylight!

Here we are getting closer to the official release of the Vietnam and Middle East 2.10 and 3.10 UPDATES for the latest Campaign Series games. We went over the latest news about the Campaign Series games, including where to add your future wishes about the World War 2 game after Cold War. Then we dove back into the madness at Dien Bien Phu and did our best to consolidate our Viet Minh while we are probing and taking out key positions inside the massive fortifications. It's a challenge and a half and the losses are brutal - although evenly matched. Day has broken and the destruction is becoming significantly worse, but we are getting some good kills in!

We continued to push into the position of the Five Hills. It was a rough go though, let me tell you. Our progress was slow, but we managed to break into the lines and takes out some artillery. That was a glorious moment! We also had a lot of random conversation about the coming Cold War game, thank you to those that participated in that, it really does help. We talked about potential scenario ideas and decades that people are looking forward to playing. After scenario 6, we started up number 7, where we are assaulting another French position. We don't have as many goodies this time, and a lot of less time - so it will be a heck of a challenge.

We went over all the new goodies coming for the future Cold War game and then dove into the latest Dien Bien Phu scenario. This is a nail biter indeed and the amount of Viet Minh that are falling is horrendous. It's slow and tedious, but there's a time limit so we have to be extremely aggressive and soak up the hail of French bullets attempting to dissuade us from doing so. A few positions have fallen, but we're still well below a Major Defeat threshold. Exciting times, albeit bloody - very bloody.

We started off the session with a major defeat as the Viet Minh in the Huguette 1 scenario of Dien Bien Phu but finished off with a major victory by the end of it after a lot of bloody fighting. After wrapping up the last few turns of that, we dove into Huguette 2 scenario where it seems we are fighting over the same ground, but against an aggressive French adversary. This is making the fight a little more interesting! It's still bloody though, I'm suffering a wackload of casualties as I advance into the French fire, where every move feels like it brings death and destruction. Courte vie à la France!

What a mess. I have never seen so many casualties during the opportunity fire phases and assault phases. I guess I was thinking I was in a better position than I was in this scenario. The French had some scripting in this scenario, which was easy to tell as they were heavily defending a northern objective. My assaults seem to be for naught, although I did manage to destroy a number of French 105mm guns. Every little bit helps in the chaos of the assault!

After a hiatus for family, I have returned back to the streams! Today's session was an overview of the current state of things and then we dove back into the Vietnam Dien Bien Phu set of scenarios. We made it to scenario number 9, of 10, and I had to remember what I was doing since the last session. We made some decent progress, but stalled in the attacks on the fortifications. I was unpleasantly surprised by the counter attack and the return of nightfall, which I need to learn to pay more attention to as it completely affected the outcome of the scenario and destroyed my plans. Murphy and his law must have been around!
