Wait.... I'm at the end? What am I going to read now?

I've had your two AARs open on tabs on my phone for about three months. It wasn't until I saw a comment about Rogue One that I realized I was "catching up to live TV."

Great AARs, it's been fascinating to read both sides, see the strategies develop, and so on. And I'm blown away by the personal side both of you have shared.

I'd been considering the game, and reading these two threads pushed me over the ledge. Thank you both for the time you've put into letting readers in on your game and your lives.

February 25, 1944

The N1K2-J goes into official production at a rate of 235/month. Give me a much better (meaning non-hangar queen) plane!

I haven't seen Dan's AAR but I know it can be...shall I say...very DIVERSE in its subjects and free-wheeling conversations. We also tend to put our personal lives into the AARs and I feel that strengthens our understanding and bonds with each other and our readers. To say that I adore the man is an understatement. Cannot wait for the day we actually meet. That shall be COOL!

His is much more detailed while mine is spottie reflecting the craziness of our lives. His kids are mostly grown up where mine are entering the DREADED teenage years. SCARY! His job is a passion and delight that is tailor-made for time on the AAR and flipping turns. Wish mine was. Looks like Paula and I will finally buy our two franchises this year so, conceivably, it will free up a bit more time for AE--MAYBE! Sort of pends on what Subway has in mind for 2017.

How long did it take to read our AARs? Bet it was quite the endeavor. The personal stuff of when he suspended our game and then same for me a few months ago has got to be very interesting to read...

Took 8-10 weeks... Not bad considering it's 375 PAGES of posts. There were several times along the way where I almost commented on something, then caught myself and realized the post I was about to comment on was older than my daughter. Your AAR styles are very different, and his definitely has a lot more side conversations.

I feel your pain re free time, though I'm not certain "small business owner" generally means LESS hours working.

My daughter is 3, so the dread teen years are ahead. I'm mid 40s, so the general health degradation is just starting... PSA, colonoscopies, dermatologists, and all kinds of fun right around the corner. I'm really glad your biopsy was clean!

And for what it's worth, I'm about to go see Rogue one with my wife. It'll be my second viewing.

That 1944 is a leap year?

February 28, 1944 sees the appearance of the Allied CTF off of Gove. Have to admit I am rather relieved. Hadn't seen his one hex 1,000,000+ ship TFs in nearly two weeks.

Manage to actually hit a valuable target and it sees 2 500 Kg bombs penetrate the Deck Armor.

A lot of things going on in Burma. Have a feeling that we are about to heat up again there. It will not be a serious fight this time...

New month for the campaign!

Just got my TT carrying Peggy to advance to 4-44 and it will begin production by mid-March. ALL IJA bomber production shifts to that aircraft from now til the end.

Have over 200 George-2 producing so we'll work to quickly upgrade the frontline Daitai with those.

My Sam's advanced from June to May 1944 as well and I REALLY hope to get the to April. If I can move them to April ALL my CV-Based Daitai will get that magnificent plane first.

Now, now. Don't mind the views. Here's the Extremely Stupid and Utterly Pointless Analysis I did.

On a simple ratio of views per post, you are The Winner! Don't mind the fact that this ratio doesn't account for viewer activity (indicating perhaps viewer interest and response, larger viewer response brings down ratio) or view count per thread OP post (which would be a more accurate ratio of AAR popularity).

That is not useless. Very COOL! BANZAI to all you readers!

I've flown out 50% of it.

We just need it to hold a bit longer and keep Allied attention THERE instead of Pare pare/Madjene.

Here is an opportunity. Pare Pare is besieged by these partial/beat-up Allied units. Wonder what might happen if a full strength Japanese ID and Brigade HAPPENED to land here???

well.......you would probably take it back......and then have an ID and a brigade way far forward and have to supply them to defend what? Dan would just bypass it. I read both AAR so I won't comment specifically but your opponent does not attack well defended positions...if well defended he just bypasses. Put good troops in better places to defend me thinks. BTW...Rouge One was excellent. Right up there with The Empire Strikes Back. Deep and Dark. Best Star War movies in 36 years

There *is* a benefit to wrecking the Allies good. Evicting them forcefully will disable and / or destroy a goodly number of units. Then you can feel free to withdraw all but a holding force. In other words, treat the ID+ as mobile muscle. Don't let 'em get tied down somewhere for long.

That is what I am thinking. Land, unload, and PUNCH. I have been resting and reloading my LBA Fighters for a week. We're bringing down CV Akagi and 3 CVL carrying ONLY Fighters to add to the CAP.

The Allied 1,000,000+ ship one hex acrost Fleet in pulling back towards Normanton providing an opportunity. We have 1 BB, BC, and 20 warships that will provide protection and then bombard. Might be rather FUN! The Landing Force is just north of Mindanao and won't be spotted as anything exciting for at least two day. Figure FOUR to landing.

Also want to do some sleight of hand with the operation. I am dividing my CVs into two TF and my STF into two TF to make it look far more then it is.

That's the objective at this point. It's not a question of overcoming the huge Allied reinforcements now coming online -- it's a matter of how long you can hold them off, and how much fun you can have doing it.

March 4, 1944

The Landing Force emerges from the cover of the Philippines and will 'appear' to be a normal TF going to Balikpapan. I will keep the warships back for as long as possible to not tip off my hand and make Dan sprint his Fleet NW from Normanton. They are still there sitting. My guess is loading the next Invasion Force for the DEI.

Interesting developments this turn:
1. CV Ikoma and Aso arrive at Hiroshima and Kobe. CVL Kurama arrives in two days at Kobe. I sent six of the Moon-Class DDs to Hiroshima a week ago. They shall be the screen to bring the CVs up to the rest of the Fleet.

2. BOTH of my Franks just advanced a month: NICE!

3. Peggy with TT will begin production within 7-10 days.

4. Am shifting my Zero factories to Sam Factories. When it comes in I want to be producing a CRAPLOAD.
