Space 1999 was a terrible show[:D]

It was an AWESOME show.

Bell bottom uniforms........analog clocks.....B/W television screens...comlocks and those sexy Eagles that sounded like Jet airliners when they took off. ooooooo. Got the whole shabang on DVD. Do have to admit though that Season two is a bit of an embarrasement as an adult. As a kid though i was hoodwinked by the sexy alien babe and the laser guns. Season one though was classic.....some episodes were downright creepy.

i used to sneak the telly on late at night to catch this show...my payback was nighmares...the special effects and makeup were bad, but there were still some creepy nasties on this show...[X(] not sure i ever got the one tight sleeve and one loose sleeve...maybe good for tennis...[&:]

The Dragon's Domain monster scared me the most (ok....laugh...i was like six when i saw it [:D] )

Of course it never occured to me at the time that it was odd that such a fieresome monster, immune to laser and blaster fire and spitting out acid dropped corpses left and right could be dispatched easily with one handy hatchet. To be fair....this issue is a common forbile in Sci-Fi. (blasters, bullets and lasers never seem to work well....but a good old fashioned razor, sword...adamantium claw? oh sure!)

Season one was cool though in that it well translated the sense of the unknown in a big scary universe....one where usually the poor humans had little they could do to cope with it. (contrast to the recent decade's worth of Star Trek and Stargate series where most everything is pretty standardized....some people have scales....some people have ridges on their noses...some have snakes inside their bellies....but all tend to have similar weapons, governments and problems. ho hum.)

Even the Cylons became humans with issues. Thank God the Darleks are still mostly the same. Their upgrades actually looked cool in the new series.

EXTERMINATE!!!!!
