I have no idea about ships, only here because I like the quiz.
But could it be a Frenchie? That was sunk after France was lost to Germany.
Or might it be a ship that was sold to a foreign navy, thus flying an enemy flag?

You could be on to something [8D] Clue: she was sunk on the Pacific map
I think that has given it away.

Condor?
Not Condor.
Which land unit am I?
1. I am a unit that fought during WWII and I have my own counter
2. I fought with an infantry designation, although WIF has given me a slightly different status.
Looking over the units in MWIF I have a guess. I suspect that Warspite1 is searching for a English unit. Not that many English land units in the force pool 1939. Since it was an infantry unit but has another designation in MWIF I looked at the few units in the force pool that are not infantryORIGINAL: warspite1

3. In reality I was in existence at the start of WWII, (and in WIF I am available at the start of the Global Campaign (although I don't think I start the game on map)). Despite the foregoing, I did not get into combat until much later in the real war.

I do not think it is any of the armored units in MWIF. There is no way that an infantry unit becomes a armor in WIF (or so I choose to belive). And then there are cavalry units but that a infantry would become a cavalry in WIF is also unlikely. That leaves the 43rd Mot Div and 50th Mot Div. No real clue on which one of those Warspite1 is looking for (if I am correct this far[:)]). So in the end I decided to go for the unit that becomes available first in MWIF.
So my guess is the 43rd motorized division.
Edit: Or should the answer be 43rd infantry division?
Thank you for sharing.[:)]ORIGINAL: warspite1
43rd (Wessex) Infantry Division [&o] is the correct answer [:)]. My late Uncle's Division (he was in the 4th Battalion Wiltshire Regiment), he joined up in March 1939.
The 43rd was one of the finest infantry divisions in the British Army. The division was held back in the UK to train for the 2nd Front and so never went to North Africa, Burma or Italy. As a result the Wessex Wyvern's first saw action only in the fighting around Caen in July 1944.
The division fought in most of the major actions from then until the end of the war; Inc
Market Garden and the Reichswald. My uncle survived the war, despite being wounded twice - the second time was right at the end of the war outside Hamburg when his leg was blown off courtesy of a land mine.

And a big thank you to your uncle and all others who fought in the 43rd. [&o]
