Vice Admiral Veijo Taipalus, Commander of the Finnish Navy, and Rear Admiral Jens Nykvist, Chief of Swedish Navy, agreed on an intensified cooperation between the Finnish and Swedish navies in Helsinki on December 1st.

According to a report by Fuji News Network (FNN)'s "Fuji TV" which aired today, the Japan Self-Defense Forces (自衛隊 Jieitai or JSDF) is considering the procurement of JASSM-ER (Joint Air-to-Surface Standoff Missile - Extended Range) long-range air-to-ground, precision standoff missiles as well as Joint Strike Missile (JSM) and LRASM (Long Range Anti Ship Missile) next generation anti-ship missiles.

While the procurement of Kongsberg's JSM was previously mentionned in the Japanese press (Yomiuri newspaper first mentionned it in June this year), it is the first time that LRASM is mentionned. LRASM just entered mass production this summer and it is unlikely to be available for export any time soon. The missiles would be intended to be fitted on the Japan Air Self-Defense Force (JASDF) F-15J and F-2 fighters. Japan is set to mass produce its own next gen anti-ship missile, the XASM-3, next year. But XASM-3 has a shorter range compared to JSM and LRASM and lacks land attack capability.

Kh-31 missiles have been added to the set of armaments of Russian seaborne MiG-29K/KUB fighter jets. Various missile modifications can hit adversary warships and radars. Supersonic speed makes Kh-31 nearly invulnerable for air defense. One salvo by a wing of fighter jets can destroy or make inoperative a major warship, the Izvestia daily writes.

The Russian Navy headquarters told the newspaper that Kh-31 adaptation for MiG-29K (one-seater) and MiG-29KUB (two-seater) had been completed. In autumn the missiles were added to the set of arms of the seaborne fighter jet. Pilots have successfully fulfilled the program of combat training launches.

The Severodvinsk nuclear-powered cruise missile submarine (SSGN) of project 885 became operational in the Russian Navy three years ago. Armed with Onix and Kalibr missiles it operates in the Northern fleet. In foreseeable future a project 885M boat of Yasen-M class is to become operational in the Navy. It will be built by an upgraded project and enjoy unique characteristics, including decreased noisiness. The submarine named Kazan is the first one in the series which will comprise the backbone of the Russian underwater forces, the Zvezda broadcaster reported.

Actually, after some research I'm now 85% sure that the torpedo shown on those pictures is not "Fizik-2". Most likely it's something like uset-80 or 53-65k [:D]. I dunno why it was shown in the video
