Mein Fuhr.. mein, mein .... Dixie old chum [:D]

Tell me, you placed a few bets ... haven't you? [:D]

Sooo ... how did that go? [;)]

I didn't bet on the Poland game, too unpredictable IMO. I wish I had though, as a 1-1 draw was my first thought, the benefits of hindsight [:D]. Ze Germans let me down badly though [:(]

I'm putting money on Holland to beat France, I can't see Le Froggies matching the Total Football of the Orange nation [:D] and Italy to beat Romania. I'm probably not going to bet on the scores though, but I feel 2-1 to Holland, and probably 2-0 Italy...

Now every thing is clear the idiot ref is demn brit as well as austrian coach...

Glad to see that we got involved in the tournament somewhere at least [;)]

I think the Ref was right to call a penalty, considering he had just warned the players seconds before for pushing and shoving. Blame the players not the Ref. Poland was lucky to get the first goal too, it was clearly offside.

It doesn't change the fact that Roger Guerreiro was a good 2 yards offside [;)]

You have to be kidding, eh? It is true that this is not the generation which won one World Cup on 1998 and then one Euro Cup (Zidane & Co.)... but they are very experienced and tough. Ask the Italians about the last World Cup Final...

What we are seeing on this Euro Cup is quite interesting. The Dutch have finally realized that their old "3 defenders only" etc, etc. is a suicide...

And they switched to a traditional 4-4-2. But does this mean they have already assimilated this new kind of football (and don't forget it, alien to Dutch football mentality on the last decades, Cruyff & Co.)?

I doubt it.

If France plays as always the Dutch will be in a serious trouble. Now if they play like Italy -- a horrible, UNEXPECTED match that is -- all can happen, right.

The Dutch play something like 4-3-3 if IIRC.

France vs Romania was a totally dull game, managed to overslept the second half so ... i think the Dutch are gonna win this.

I've made my prediction, and I'm sticking to it [;)] Courage of my convictions and all that [:)]

Whilst France are a good side on paper, especially their attacking options, I feel the Cloggies are just that little bit better all round. Plus there's just something about Holland that appeals to me, you have to go with your heart when backing the football [:D]

If France play as they can, then Holland could be in trouble. But if Holland play like they did against Italy then France will be in trouble too... It'll be interesting to see who is right (it had better be me else I'll have a lot of editing to do to make it look like I was correct from the start [;)][:D])

TO briefly wander away from the discussion:
This Euro tournament has been quite a good one to watch so far. Without any British sides in there I'm not too bothered about who wins, so I can just enjoy the football. I'm enjoying watching the 'underdogs' of Croatia and I'll admit a (small) soft spot for Poland [;)] But I want Holland to win. [:)]

Zond: a 4-2-3-1, yes.

Dixie, for all I care I think Holland should win this Euro Cup. I think they never won anything (though I am not sure). And they deserve a reward (just because of their traditional, generous Total Football: every football fan should appreciate that; as opposed to catenaccio). It's my head which talks, not my "heart". And after the match against the Italians, the French are warned... [8D]

EDITED: I think I haven't understood the Beckham & Weah joke, Dixie. So apparently David does not know he is Liberian? [&:] Could you elaborate, please?

Liberian - Librarian ... does that make it clear?

I see that my new, refreshed look makes a difference [;)]

It looks that Photoshop was very active during last night (Polish mastercard) [:D]

Fraul ... Historiker tell me something. Of this three german tribes on tournament, do you have maybe some "native" goalscorers? When looking through statistics you can see names like Yakin, polish bloke called Podolski and a certain Ivica Vastic? [:'(]

[;)]
(Disclaimer: just joking) [;)]
