RE: Mines in the Pacific

Not a good turn, the air war in Thailand is going somewhat south. Final tally was 30 Japanese for 40 Allied, a kill ratio any JFB could be happy about. Layered Japanese CAP combined with Jacks and especially Franks is tough for the Allies to get through.
Going to have to ponder a response to this, but the mallet of the heavy bomber isn't all its cracked up to be in '44.

At least the super E has not driven my subs from the waves yet, they are still doing good service, 2 sinkings a day is not abnormal. It's gotta add up - and then theres the loss of their cargo half the time as well.

Maybe not... [:D] It's all about numbers though, and unfortunately sweeps tend to run in one at a time and eat the full CAP. I'm lucky that compared to other '44 games our airforces seem very dispersed - the biggest raid of the war so far was about 90 bombers. I just don't have any airfield 9s that close to the front to permit me to concentrate. In the Thailand fighting the only one with av support is Moulmein, and it's too far from Vietnam to have an impact in this latest round.

The difference in firepower is extreme, but the forts are being whittled down, and with all those bombers, they won't be coming back up. It's only a matter of time, and there's quite a lot of support personnel here about to go into the bag.
