I too have to re-organize the other fronts [8|] In the Moscow approaches, near Smolensk almost everyone was attached to the STAVKA. Now this is part of the Western Front (as it should be). Zhukov is the boss and I'm afraid this front will be rather overloaded [8D] Let's see what can be done to solve this situation.

The Bryansk Front did need a reorganization as well. The Southwestern (overloaded too) and Southern Fronts are more "organized" though [8D] I have spent like 140 administrative points in total.

Nice game TulliusDetritus,
My concern about this game flows on to other pasts about people complaining about the Germans and wanting to buff the Germans. Simply said, despite TulliusDetritus intelligent gameplay his opponent has simply demonstrated his own inexperience in playing the game. The paths he chose on a strategic level were poor. The sheer fact that that he was unable to destroy the Soviet northern and southern armies at the start of the game flagged his inexperience - anyone who has played the computer as the Germans a couple of times for the grand campaign should have their opening moves down pat and should be able to reap destuction on the Soviet player. His later romps in the swamps with his AGN, his failure to protert flanks and his inability to dictate the game in clear weather and in open ground made reading this post the equivalent of watching a car crash. The destruction of his forces in AGN are simply unforgiveable.
Given the above, nothing can be taken away from TulliusDetritus - he can only play against what he is up against.
GG

501waff, I totally agree with your analysis [:)] I [or any Soviet player for that matter] should not have been allowed to do what I did. NEVER [8D] Said this, playing as the Germans is I think MORE dangerous and complicated when you're a total noob [my opponent and me that is, and to be fair everyone except the testers]. If you don't play your cards correctly your Soviet opponent might create a big mess during the blizzard or a little before just like I managed to do. The Soviets on the other hand can literally suffer catastrophes after catastrophes and still survive. Still... he should have protected that bloody right flank! [:D]
This AAR is a total abnormality. No one should draw conclusions, which might be totally erroneous ie Germans too weak or Soviets too strong.

End result might look like this. The Soviets used a forward non mobile defence and paid the price. Operational level defeat.
I have made this my wallpaper for the day . I know its a traffic accident but I just have to look

pipewrench, there is one thing I don't understand on this screenshot [&:] It's october 1941. What are all those Soviet units doing near the Romanian border? And what were the Axis forces exactly doing on this front since june 1941? Apparently nothing.
And who was trying to encircle the other side? The Soviets or the Axis?

My thoughts exactly. I don't believe the screenshot is genuine. If it is then its one stupid opening start for Barbarossa.

NO [X(] I am not saying that [8D] It's just that that front was apparently "sleeping". Could be. An Axis advance that totally ignores that part of the front. We don't know what happened more in the north, near Kiev, and across the Dnper, was it crossed? A very very dangerous situation if it was for all those Soviet forces of the screenshot [X(] The Soviet player sent a lot of forces to this place though, that's indeed a fact [:)]

Yes, I remember Starbuck did paste this screenshot 2 or 4 pages ago. I just have noticed now the "october" thing. Weird... but possible [:)]
EDITED: and needless to say, feel free to say WHATEVER you want. That screenshot included [:)] I remember I was surprised too when I saw it. Around 50 units there! A big big big pocket! [8D]

Turn 17

9 october 1941
And we continue... Nothing has happened this turn, except an almost pocket in the Southwestern Front. He hasn't trapped my units yet. In fact the offensive and defensive values of the enemy panzer and motorized divisions are low so I will counter-attack and [possibly] bring some STAVKA strategic reserves... Just in case...

The Leningrad, Northwest and Kalinin Fronts. The 52nd (NW) and 54th (Kalinin) Armies haven't arrived yet. They will be in place on next turn [8D]

Perhaps your opponent has never played a wargame. Maybe he is having trouble with some concepts, like ZOCs and needing rail lines to be repaired.
