I can't move my units much unless it is along a railroad. So I didn't move my units much. I moved a unit out of Leningrad.

I was going to rail my AA unit from Mannerheim to Rundstedt. I'm really irritated. I knew Orm was likely to move out of Leningrad, but I'm not used to the Motorized movement rates Optional rules, so I miscalculated where to move the IX SS Mechanized Corps to last impulse. I thought it was going to be able to get to Novgorod, if needed, but it comes up 1 hex short. The only way to keep that city now is to get the turn to end now, and then hope to win the initiative one more time to start next turn. So, my AA stays in the area to help retake Novgorod yet again!

I've been having such insanely good luck with foolish attacks add low odds that I thought I'd risk a paradrop, so you could see what that looks like. Here's the actual flight and target hex:

The drop itself:

The decision to include the notional unit:

And finally, the combat odds for attacks this impulse. I added 1.5 factors of Ground Support to the attack by my paratrooper, and also made an attack on Tula:

As it turned out, luck was again on my side. The 2:1 paradrop rolled a '9', as did the attack on Tula. I think I shouldn't try for high odds. I seem to roll low there, and I seem to roll high whenever I'm doing something I really shouldn't.

Right now I'm having internet connectivity problems, so I'll post a the remainder of the impulse as I am able to, morning at the latest. Here's what those attacks look like after advancing:

I rebased 2 fighters and the Rumanian bomber. This shows my preparations to fix my errors near Novgorod.

There wasn't a lot of movement on the front lines. An overrun on the Russian infantry, that had been where you can now see my 5-2 ART, was what allowed me to make the attack on Tula. Bryansk is now completely alone in the Soviet universe, and the new defensive line is at the Don, which will probably be very difficult for me to crack. My lines are getting too long.

This gives you a closer look at the Southern part of the front. I have some stacks available, and a fairly large air contingent, but aside from a little attempt by the LIII Motorized Corps to make room for itself, I'm not advancing at all here. Supply is becoming a problem.

Nothing changed in the Crimea, so my last post for this impulse is a Zoom 1 view of the detail map. It's really hard to make out any specifics, I know, but I still like being able to see all of Europe on a single screen (Spain and France were cut by me, to trim the file size down a bit).

With few units that I must move I decide to make a combined impulse. The German convoy in the Black Sea that have been giving sea supply to German units around Crimea has annoyed me a long time now.

So the pride of my fleet sail out from Sevastapol. The rain rain makes their task to find the german ships harder but my cruisers are fast and can cover much of the Black Sea.

Hi

I think this game looks great! Haven't played it for 15 years (When I got married).

Are you playing this game by netplay or PBEM? Are you both beta testers? And do you come across bugs when you play or is it working good?

Really looking forward to play again with old friends [:)]

Hi Roolender.

We are playing in Hot-Seat mode and save the game whenever it is time for the opponent to move and then email him the save. We just have had a couple of minor bugs that I think are mentioned somewhere in this thread. We are both beta testers.

When the army fails it is time to put our trust in the navy!

Victory! [;)]

And that was the last of the German sea supply in the Black sea.

On the north front the 40th Army captures Novgorod. Much to my suprise I must confess. When I moved the garrison out of Leningrad I made a fast calculation and concluded that the 9th SS Corps would reach Novgorod before me. At last some nice news for me[:)]

I move a militia out of Rostov to slow down the motorized corps trying to move behind my lines.

At least I wasn't the only one to miscalculate the movement of the SS Mech. That comes as a little bit of comfort, I guess.

The turn ended. 50% chance for it to end. This is this turns losses.

Edit: The game is tied in victory points at this point.
