Turn 7. Sep/Oct 1940. Summary.

(1) A short turn.
(2) Wavell's HQ-A destroyed but almost immediately replaced by Alexander's HQ-I.
(3) German u-boats devastate CW convoys. The CW lost a total of 8 CP's with another 10 aborted this turn. This is troubling for two reasons:
(a) No CW CP's were left at sea in the North Atlantic and West Med when the turn end forcing the CW to use all of its saved oil England (5 points) to salvage most of its production potential.
(b) Total convoy losses over the last two turns is 15 sunk and 13 aborted. The losses are unsustainable.
(4) KM makes a dash from Kiel through the Channel to Brest, stopping on their way to attempt to raid a small RN task force on patrol there.

Turn 7. Sep/Oct 1940. Allied #4.

CW rushes reinforcements from England to Egypt braving the trip through the Med. Only Alexander's HQ-I makes it their this turn. CW mech corps is stopped in the West Med and eventually disembarks into Malta. Overall, the CW is quite happy to have gotten Alexander's HQ-I there. It was an interesting journey as detailed below.

Turn 7. Sep/Oct 1940. Axis #1. North Sea.

The KM moves in force out into the North Sea. The RN attempts but fails to intercept. The KM, nevertheless, decides to remain in the North Sea and attack the small RN task force operating there, which does contain a fleet aircraft carrier but whose planes are grounded due to storms.

During naval combat neither side finds.

Turn 7. Sep/Oct 1940. Allied #4. North Sea. RN Response.

The RN sorties more ships into the North Sea to deal with the brazen move by the KM. They find the KM and close to within gun range. The KM CA Admiral Scheer is sunk and the Admiral Grap Spee is heavily damaged. Not a very good day for German Admirals.

Though, the cost to the RN is that they lose the NED CA Sumatra and NED CA Java is damaged.

The remaining KM ships "retire", really make a dash, to Brest.

All 3 CW CP's are cleared from the West Med. 1 CP is sunk and the other 2 are aborted. This is a start of a horrendous turn against CW convoys.

Turn 7. Sep/Oct 1940. Allied #9. North Atlantic.

The CW is able to replace 6 of the 9 CP's cleared last impulse by German u-boats from the North Atlantic. These u-boats promptly clear these 6 CP's, sinking 3 and aborting the other 3.

The two u-boat flotillas escape this encounter with minor scratches, 1 of the 2 is forced to abort.

A very good turn from u-boat wolfpacks.

Turn 7. Sep/Oct 1940. Economic Reports.

(1) Not only is Germany giving Italy 3 non-oil RP's, it also "gave" Italy 2 1/2 oil RP to reorganize their units. Italy is definitely a drain on Germany's war economy.

(2) The USA, which geared up production this turn, plans on saving 3 BP's a turn for an O-chit so it'll have one on hand when it enters the war.
