Kido Butai ATTACKED & the Allies were NOT Ready! - 22 Nov 1942

For the first time since I've been covering this campaign, the Kido Butai arrived in strength and launched a major attack! The Allied forces were caught completely by surprise (as was I) and the Japanese carried the day basically unscathed. Can you guess where they attacked? You'll probably never guess.

That is a big ouch, but most of the lost ships were xAKs and xAKLs for what I saw. These will not be a problem to replace in the coming months. The next turn or two will see what happens with the warships around the target area.

It's anyone's guess if Wirraway decided to stick around in the Bay of Bengal with his massive Kido Butai strike force, or leave. Take a look and see what happened!
Also, we may have just gotten some insight into DW's next moves. Come see what we found floating out there at sea.

The turn started out pretty straightforward, but once I got into the files on the back end of the replay I discovered some very interesting things! It appears that DesertWolf has a plan, and things are coming together. Watch this turn with me and let's see what DW's cooking!

I didn't see this one coming! The Japanese got to experience a CAP trap from the Allies this turn, but the results may surprise you.
In addition to some quality aerial action over China, we get some more clarity on DW's plans with his ships. I cover it in detail.
Lastly, I am using this video as a testbed for introduction of Combat Reporter details into my videos. Your feedback and suggestions are greatly appreciated and requested to let me know if this is something you want to see on a consistent basis.

A Tough Day in Burma for the Allies - 26 Nov 1942

The Allies go on the offensive in Burma but the opening volley doesn't end well for thousands of troops. The Japanese are still very potent and intact on the ground in Burma and uprooting them will be a massive slog.
We also get additional information and updates about DesertWolf's other operations all throughout the Pacific theater. Take a look and see what's happening with me.

In an absolute mad stroke of genius, DesertWolf has found a war to install early warning radar! You'll need to watch the video to understand what I'm talking about, but when you see it, you'll be impressed.
Also, even MORE moving parts have been added to the equation of operations. Come see what we found and help me determine what this latest information is telling us.

The shot clock is ticking. DesertWolf has set several major operations in operation, but the risk of the Kido Butai showing up in the middle of it all is extreme. There's a timer on all these moving parts and it started ticking NOW.

For the first ever in War in the Pacific, I get to see Beaufighters in action at low level versus enemy shipping, and the results were quite impressive! Aside from that, this turn is the eve of the great battles which are about to begin! All the puzzle pieces are in place, and it's just time to execute now.

This turn was going more or less standardly until the end of the replay when a shocking waste of Japanese aircraft occurred. You'll have to see it to believe it. I'm speechless.

Not a retreat, but perhaps a tactical withdrawal? - 6 Dec 1942

I think DesertWolf is starting to feel the heat, and he wisely decides to start pulling back from the front lines. I wouldn't call it a full retreat, but a tactical withdrawal to avoid destruction should the worst happen.

You may be wondering where the last 10 game-days have went. Something major has occurred in the campaign that DesertWolf felt was important to bring to you all now. I'm really shocked and confounded by the events in this video. It's a must watch for this campaign, as it is a defining moment.

Here we go, end of the road in this great adventure.
I would like to thank Jochen for doing the videos covering my campaign against Wirraway. I really like his presentation style and he brings great visibility to this wonderful game. He has brought numerous new players in thanks to his videos which is great to see. Tune in to his upcoming Japanese campaign - should be a fun watch!
I would also like to thank Mike for a great game. While it sadly did not make all the way to 1945, it was tremendously fun and I learned a lot. Mike has given me the biggest challenge thus far as a Japanese opponent, and at one point I even thought that I might lose China for the first time.
Cheers!
