Sept. 9th 1943.....
Today some 400 carrier based aircraft hit Tarawa just after the sun rose.........
All my Eng units are disrupted by at least 70%............
By lack of flipper control 15 Betty 2s and 9 A63Cs attacked the allied fleet(forgot to turn them off) alliede 200+ cap made sure that none returned......
One of my RO subs was the first loss in the battle for Tarawa.......and another I boat was badly damaged....now limping back to Kwaj.......
Still 6 subs on station...........2 more on the way.......
I've decided to abandon that island that starts with a J.....south of malolap and sent the troops there to Malolap.......I'm also sending ships to pick up the Imp. G. Div at Wake....and send to the Marianas.........Wake is now an irrelevance....

400 carrier based aircraft coming out of the morning sun to hit the evil black and white. *sniff* brings a tear to an allied fanboy's eye.

Nice defences Faber. I suspect you are right about supplies however, any contengency plans to slip supplies in should a break in the assualt occur?

Am airlifting in supply as we speak.......but even fast trans. would be far too risky with the ship numbers Steven has........might try to slip in a sub or two....but don't have that many seaworthy.......
Sept 10th 1943.........Glorious clouds covered Speedy's armada today so Tarawa got a reprieve.......other than that I lost an AK to one of his subs....and he continues to Bomb Burma back to the stone age.......
Me and my staff are working on an evil plan to hurt Speedy.....not here ....but maybe by the time he gets to Kwaj......when the plan is fleshed out....I will share it with you.......

I suspect the lack of icebergs in this area seriously hampers the penguin forces defensive abilities.[8|]

[:D][:D].....if Iceburgs were available....we would hold Tarawa for 1,000 years..........

Speedy has now spent 7 days.....pounding Tarawa.......and still no transports......hmmmm.....
He is also reconing Makin and Apa-whatever.....very fully.....he may be thinking of bypassing Tarawa ...........and this pea brained penguin hasn't even mined the other two Islands........I wouldn't have garrisoned them anyway, as I don't have the strength to garrison all the Islands....and Tarawa is the most important....but I should have mined them......doh......
Here is the last stand of most of my sub command....two subs with the arrow will try there luck with the CV TFs I will lose both...the rest lie in wait for the Transports.......

Speedy's carriers have gone........vanished.....for two turns now.......and still no transports.....was it a diversion?
Hmmmmm have I been tricked......is he still going for Wake?....my kingdom for a crystal ball......
Today the Imp G. Div left Wake.......
A CD unit and some ENG. left last week.......
Wake has fewer that 250 AV.........
I didn't want these units to be cut off as he marched up the Marshalls......
but now, I could be a victim of Premature Evacuation!!!!!!!!

Shhhh........I've run a turn at work.........
Sept. 20th 1843......
Which way did he go.......which way did he go.......
Still quiet around Tarawa.......
Have decided that AAGs 1 and 2 will return to the HIs after a stay at Singapore.......Speedy's raid there, might also be a diversion.....
and anyway....
In 9 days.....AAG 3 comes online........Taiho, Amagi, Unryu and escorts......
In 20 days I'll have 2 SAGs with Yamato and Haruna in one......and Yamashiro and Hyuga in the second.....violence will ensue.......

Sept. 21 1943..........
Speedy has his foothold in the Gilberts......
Today he landed and took Abemama....he was unopposed........
AP Custer was sunk by I-25 on the way to Abemama.......but I-25 was in return sunk.......
I-3 was also sunk......along with an RO boat..........and another I- boat was badly damaged and is Returning to Kwaj......as Speedy's armada blew a hole through my sub picket line.............
Another Huge TF is making for Makin........where today subs lay'd 45 mines........not many...but I might get lucky.....
2nd Army left Wake..........as Evac. Continues.......
Lost another TK off Saipan..........If anyone has TKs to spare please E-mail them to me..........
My troops on Tarawa are now trapped..........

It's interesting that Speedy has decided to avoid Tarawa......(I'm now assuming he will bypass it).......it would have cost him...but he would have taken it.........and have a lvl 6 airfield at his disposal.......
Abemama is lvl 0 and can build up to 5.........
Makin is lvl 1 and can build to 4.........
With seabees.....he should have them up and running for LRB missions in about 6 weeks........but With Tarawa he could be bombing in a week.......
Still......It looks a good stategy.....my men are trapped on Tarawa........never to fire a shot.......and there is no way I can airlift out those CD guns........all in all well played Speedy.......curse your very soul........
