Probably late war so must be a US ship. Can't imagine it would be on the European mainland, but I dont know much about the USN in the Mediterranean..... Wichita?

Yup, was durring Opperation TORCH.

During "Operation TORCH" there are only 2 Cruisers in Cruiser Division 8 (CRUDIV-8)

[:D] So at this time you have a 50-50 chance [:D]


FYI: I was curious and looked it up the weight of the depth charges.

Scout planes and destroyers use the same depth charges.

I think the USN might have repeated the aerial depth-charge trick during the Sicily landings, against a far more dangerous armored column. The USAAF still had it's head, uhh, elsewhere, as the GI Joes might have said, during that invasion. ? I wasn't clear if the reference was to the battle around Gela, or the earlier use in North Africa.
