And looks like the upcoming LHD for the PLAN might feature a ramp. I wonder if China also has a VTOl aircraft (or UAV) in the works.

While the news is talking about the public hosing issues when military camps/areas are occupied in Hong Kong, I am more inclined to believe PLAN and PLAAF will use Hong Kong as an extra FOB, for both South and East China Seas’ possible conflicts:

also wouldn't the fact that nuclear armageddon hadn't commenced tell you it was a false alarm?
questions abound.

"And with Russia's economy in trouble because of falling oil prices, the fight in Syria could be deemed an unnecessary cost."
This was the only mention of cost I saw in the CNN article. Where did it mention Putin having an official pronouncement on budgeting strategy for the Russian military. I must have missed it.

J-10C with TVC engine appeared. Just as predicted by wall-climbers who could only reveal their sightings in abstract cartoons some weeks before, detailing that they saw the TVC-equipped J-10 undergoing arrested ground-tests.

This J-10C would be dubbed J-10D and would serve as both testbed for the TVC capable J-20 engines, as well as a new spin-off for the J-10 family.
The 3D TVC engine has been under development for a very long time, as apparent from pictures and studies of the nozzle design going back as far as during Jiang Zeming's administration (1993 - 2003):
Once mature, we can expect the J-20 to be equipped with a pair of similar engines.

11 multiple choice questions.
One could put together a quiz on the USN too.
