Hi John. Best wishes for your cat. My wife is actually at an animal hospital tonight, but she's working the ER there. [;)]
We have 4 cats and 2 dogs at home, but the oldest cat is now on insulin. The things we do for members of our family. [8D]

"We turn away to face the cold, enduring chill
As the day begs the night for mercy
Your sun so bright it leaves no shadows, only scars
Carved into stone on the face of earth"

Amen to that brother Mike.
I could tell you some stories, having once had 5 cats, a dog and two birds. As it stands now, our last two cats are 18 and 19, respectively and living on sheer spite. Their incontinence isn't helping our carpets much, but we made our choice...

We've had two cats go on insulin. They pass pretty rapidly once that happens unfortunately. We have three stones in the backyard marking graves of our boys. I miss them.
Rijel was the saddest. He was a stray we picked up who had feline HIV. Only lasted a few years. There was much, much sadness when he passed. He was the sweetest cat.

Who are you calling a doctor? I have to work for a living...
Mafia II is amazing. The game engine is relatively simple, but the atmosphere of 1951 America is just FANTASTIC!
Ahem...
I was at one time interested in Mafia I. Did you play that? How's the replayability of Mafia II? [artificial Ital-Amer accent on] Youse know what I'm sayin'? C'mon-I'm dyin' here. [artificial Ital-Amer accent off]

Isn't that about Market Garden? Wouldn't think the British would want to relive that one much. [:'(]
I'd better hide those Kasserine games then.[:'(]
I rarely play the American side in games. I prefer playing the bad guys.
So you would play the Brits? [&:]

[:D] Not at Kasserine, no...I would play the Germans.
In Market Garden too.....
I did like playing the Amis in Victory Games Vietnam. What a great game....too bad it is so hard to find opponents.

Thanks for all the good wishes Brothers. Since there are so many pet owners, vets and their hangers on I'll share the outcome. My cat had been suffering from reduced kidney function for about a year. We treated this with frequent sub cu Normasol injections. This last round with the vets added a heart murmur that was identified as Hypertrophic Myopathy. The kidney showed deformation and stones were found. Given all this we helped our old friend into Cat Valhalla. At the moment I am at peace and toasting my friend with a dram of single malt.
My wife (who lurks The Thread) and I thank you all for allowing us to share.
-John
PS. A thanks to all Veterinarians out there. It is so rare that I've met a bad one that I feel the field, in general, blessed.

One irony of this life experience is the fact that while I learned to administer IVs in the Army. Gave many a soldier ringer solution. I've now given many times as much to a cat. Life is strange.

One more splash of rum for me in his honor tonight, John. To all of our furry, four legged family members.
