STOP PRESS!!! I SUNK A US SUB!
Not just hit one, but sunk it. First time for everything (Raver' slammed one of my subs as well but that isn't out of the ordinary.
Lots of bombardments starting at Maleaop, although for some reason they don't seem to be having much effect. I've got aggressive leaders etc.
Raver's silliness in China continues - where he has individual divisions WAY behind my lines . . . not that they'll do him any good. Not sure how he gets supplied, but I'm planning to spend some PP points, get some sallies in and bomb those chinese troops to hell. He continues to try to take Nanning, which is still valiantly held by my Mix rgt and the forts - Raver's 4 chinese divisions there just lack the punch to rip through the forts, so the forts slowly expand as Raver's troops diminish (and those units have been repulsed so often now they're next to useless. once a chinese unit is out of action, they're years in recovering combat capability.
Raver has responded my moving a large army (29 units) from the fortress at Kweilin and marching them in that direction. I hold Wuchow, so i'm not to concerned there - by I'll keep an eye on these chinese units. If Raver is "invading" mongolia with chinese units, no reason I shouldn't invade right back, and go for the central chinese heartlands. Might have more success there than at Manila or Sinapore.
Manila is a tough nut - as is Clark. I don't hold enough of a firepower advantage at either - and with places like the solomons, Kwaj & PNG all sucking up my small inf units I can't even bolster them up that way. I strongly suspect Luzon will hold until after the conquest of Java is compete. Singapore on the other hand has shown major signs of weakening this week. First off - my bombardments kill more allies than his kill japs - this was the other way around to begin with. Also, my bombing attacks on Singapore are having an immediate effect on supply and disruption because every turn the airfield damage was repaired . . . except this turn there is some left over

Not a lot, but enough to convince me the end is near. I took Muntok this turn too.
Perhaps most satisfying was the rather pointed reminder that although my entire Eastern Pacific Fleet is involved at Kwaj, I've still got a lot of surface combat firepower - especially around Java. RADM Kono lead Chokai and her escorts into an attack on the ships in Darwin harbour last night (they were too well defended for mini KB to get them) and sank a bunch of empty AKs, and a AS (!!) that Raver foolishly left unguarded. His preference for dozens of small tfs helps him when it comes to air raids, but costs him when it comes to surface combat engagements.
Enjoy
