Turn 12. Jul/Aug 1940. Initiative.

The all important initiative. Well, not really all important but significant.

Turn 12. Jul/Aug 1941. Axis #1. Nazi-Soviet Pact.

And why was having the initiative significant? Because, Germany had the garrison required to break the Nazi-Soviet pact, did break the pact and both Germany & Italy declare war on and invaded the Soviet Union.

Interestingly with the Soviets stuffing the border, Germany even with a 0.75 multiplier didn't break the pact by much. But breaking it by 9 is as good as breaking it by 1000 ... in fact maybe even better ... significant number of Soviet units close to the front in case of the former.

Turn 12. Jul/Aug 1941. Asian Front. Combat Logs. Impulses 1 - 3.

Part of my delay in posting this turn, in addition to actually playing the turn, was working up a "consolidated" combat log format were all three types of combats (i.e., naval, land and air) are logged in a single form (or worksheet). This is something that I've be toying with since the end of my last solo AAR almost a year ago.

What I've produced as my first (releasable) version of this "consolidated" format does indeed allow all three combats to be logged in a single form but produces a wide form, which the detailed stats after the log comments.

This consolidate format does make it easier to parse, summarize and display the data by theater/front.

Below are the Asian Front logs for impulses 1 - 3 of this turn.

Even though the chance of Germany taking even a combine is remote the RN deploys to protect protect their convoys. That is, they deploy to defended against the worst case threat without making an assessment of intent. Definitely conservative on the Brits part but at this stage in the war conservative is ok.

The Royal Navy establishes itself in the North Sea. Though, they were greatly helped by the fact the KM withdrew back to base last turn.

Turn 12. Jul/Aug 1941. End of Turn. Battle of the Atlantic/Western Front. Bay of Biscay.

Though no CPs are flowing through the Bay of Biscay this hasn't stopped the RN from deploying a powerful force there to (attempt to) blockade the two KM BBs at Brest.
