Wasn't the military airfield on Maui at Kahului and not Lahaina? I saw WWII era bunkers when I was there last. I realize Maui is only one hex, so one cant have Lahaina be the harbor and Kahului be the airfield. Better to just call it Maui.
And how about a little spot of blue for San Francisco Harbor, even though it doesnt affect game play. SF appears landlocked.

Not sure if this goes in the OOB comment or what, but I would like to see the Montana Class added. However, I'd like to see also a sort of ship production thing (like the Japanese) for this, so that IF you decide to build the Montanas, your Essex class Carriers might be delayed, but if you decide to not build them (a la historical outcome), then the Essex class arrive at normal times. This might help to balance the game, so that the Allies don't get just 5 more BBs for nothing.
Just what I'd like to see (In case you can't tell, I like Battleships)
Also, I'd like to see the other 4 Alaska Class CBs included that were never completed, and give the player the option to have them completed by the beginning of 1946. IIRC, they were cancelled because the war was winding down, and if WiTP doesn't necessarily end on August 15, 1945, it would be interesting to see them in combat.

brisd, generaly speaking WiTP does not realy fallow at all historical unit upgrade paths for the Japanese, this is espichaly true for the Navy, I made several posts on this in the past, the problem is in a way that modeling the way they upgraded historicaly would be almost imposable to do. This is whear things get kind of funny since one would and could argue for this and that and say well they would historicaly upgrade to this when in fact that was mostly not at all the case at all, so prety much all the upgrade paths for the Japanese are intended as a game play tool, one intended to force us into a path that will in the designers eyes better creat a historical feal for things. Personaly I dont care for this at all but as they are so found of saying the editior is their for you to make the changes you see fit.

To be accurate, the rail/highway/road system needs to be removed from Prince Rupert north. Of course, the Alcan highway should magically show up in late 43 to be accurate too. (but only going from vancouver to Anchorage and not touching Juneau) (I know the Alcan doesn't start at Vancouver, but there isn't a better place for it to start on the map)
I would portray a rail line running from the "US mainland" base to someplace vaguely northeast of Vancouver (connected to the railline running into Vancouver and points south). From there would be a trail running to Fairbanks and a rail line running south to Anchorage.

Agreed, Bungaree should be in WITP (and in UV too!). She is actually in the WITP OOB but as a Bathurst.

Yes - and a lot more. See: http://mns.ewebs.com
HMAS Platypus - Submarine Depot Ship
http://www.navy.gov.au/spc/history/ships/platypus.htm
Platypus was originally a submarine tender but she was reclassified when the last of the Australian "O" class were decommissioned in 1930. I believe she was a training ship during the 1930s, then became base ship at Darwin. Probably best represented as AR or AGP.
HMAS Moresby - Survey Ship (served as escort during WW2)
http://www.navy.gov.au/spc/history/ships/moresby1.htm
Agreed.
River Class Frigates
(snipped)
All of the River Class are missing, British as well as Australian. Also the pre-war British and Indian sloops and all the tenders of the British Eastern Fleet.

Brady,
Your comments about the designers intentions may well be true but I give it my best shot and then move on. A game like this is always a compromise.

Ron Saueracker, My sources on Japanese Naval Avation units are generaly speaking better than the ones I have on Army Units (avation), while the ones I have on the army sugest the following they are not entirely specififc enough for me to say this is so:
Japanese Naval Air Units, typicaly out of what was often schear nescessaity, faught till they were depleated of men and or Airframes, particulary in the South, so when a unit was withdrawn many were disbaned and the remenits used to form new units, a New fighter unit was typicaly given a few old hands and fleshed out with new piolets. So Historicaly a Unit did not always realy upgrade per say, it faught till it was dead in many instances, so a path hear is not realy Historicaly speaking the way it would go. Also many units were composet units, often containing more than one plane type, or for that mater fighter type, so hear agin in WiTP we cant follow this Historical pathway, since WiTP does not do composet units. A while back I asked some questions regarding the upgrade paths and certain units using my book on Japanese Naval Air Units , and discovered many divergent paths from what the book listed for the units, the book is a great source since it lists each and every fighter units the Japanese navy had and their unit historys covering upgrades.

OK heres one Fleet Air Arm Fighter Sqns.
I am now in June 42 so I have seafires in my pool but I am not allowewd to upgrade my Fulmers / Sea Gladiators on my 2 UK carriers.
I have better fighters inthe pool but I cannot use them.
No sane admiral would wait till December to upgrade to Wildcats.
Either give me Sea Hurricanes to replace my fulmers or let me upgrade to Seafires for god sake dont make me wait 6 months to get a half decent fighter when I will have 50 or 60 seafires in the pool by then !!!

There are several different ways of romanizing the Hangul alphabet. Incheon is probably the most common (in Korea) and accurate. You can also spell Korea...Corea for that matter. Was changed by the Japs and many "Corean's" like the old spelling especially considering the source of the change.
Sorry for babbling.........

The Alcan Highway seams to run to Jeauno Alaska, and No road ever ran nor does run to Jeano Alaska, In Fact the Alcan Highway does not anywhear near the coat it ran from Montania through Canada up the East side of BC to the SE corner of the Youkon Teritiry then over to Alaska, at no time was near the Coast. Also it apears that Prince Rupert is not on the road, or perhaps I just misread it on the map, Prince Rupert was conected to the rest of Canada by Road and Rail links.
I asume the Alcan is not realy usable until it's Historical compleation date corect?
Actually the ALCAN started at Dawsons Creek in Canada and not Montana.

The road/Highway, may of trechnicaly started their but the suplyes started their jurny N to Alaska from a marshling point in Montana. 2 years ago I took a long Holiday and actualy drove to Alaska, was a great experance.

I have noticed that some leaders are attached to units that never appear in the game. Units in Locations 2001 USA Cav Div (in scenario 15 at least) has 15705 Hewett G.M. in command. The USA Cav Div never appears in the game, as it is a template for US Cavalry divisions, so Hewett G.M. never appears in the game! This happens for many of the Japanese and Allied units ranging from...

Great Falls, Montana was the jumping off point for the Alaska-Siberian Air Ferry Route (ALSIB). Starting in September, 1942, 8,000 Lend-Lease A/C, over half of the Lend Lease total, were flown to Russia this way. US pilots flew Great Falls - Calgary - Edmonton - Fort Nelson - Whitehorse - to Fairbanks, Alaska. In Fairbanks, Russian aircrews took over, and flew to Nome, then onto Russian airfields.
The US Army selected the Alaska-Canada ("Alcan") highway route in order to connect the airfields that were not already served by rail links. From Montana, soldiers and material were shipped by rail north into Alberta through Calgary and Edmonton, then northwest on a spur of the Canadian National RR that reached Dawson's Creek, just inside the border of British Columbia. The Alcan road started from there. As it was a single-lane dirt road that was not militarily useful for supply and transport until around 1944, the main function of the Alcan was as a navigation aid for ferry pilots who could easily get lost in the vast wilderness of Northern Canada and Alaska, and as an emergency landing strip.
It is probably not a coincidence that ALSIB lend lease flights began the same month (September, 1942) that the "pioneer" road for the Alcan was completed.

VP-21 was at Midway with PBYs on 12/7/41. OOB for Scenario 15 has it arriving in 1944.
Don
Additional info on this squadron...7 active PBYs, and an additional 2 were supposed to be delivered to the DEI, but were acquired by VP-21 when the war broke out.
On another note to do with Midway on Dec 7th...
Midway Neutralization Force:
DD Sazanami and DD Ushio were dispatched on Dec 1 to shell Midway Island. They arrived the evening of December 7th, and shelled the island well into the night.. DD Akebono is also listed on a website that references the The Campaigns of the Pacific War as being there instead of the Sazanami. It also says the tanker Shiriya was part of the task force.
There actually is a single DD TF setup with the Sazanami, but the Ushio is in the Kure replenishment group and neither are heading to Midway in the Campaign Game.
References:
The Rising Sun in the Pacific - Samuel Morison
And the Lexington should have VMSB-231 deployed on her initially. She was supposed to be supplying this squadron of 18 Vindicators to Midway much like Wake had been supplied by the Enterprise.

Don,
Thanks for the great link. HMAS Bungaree is a big loss seeing the allies start with so few minelayers compared to IJN. Before the game went gold I was dying to see what had been omitted....
I have to ask the question to Matrix...
Are all of these missing ships oversights (understandable, considering the scale involved) which will be rectified in a future patch?

Johnston Island is spelled correctly on the base screen, but as "Johnson" Island on the map.
Also, not a typo but it would be nice if the name Milne Bay were used in place of Gili Gili...sounds so much better. Gili Gili sounds Silly Silly.[:'(]
Late Reading this, but Milne Bay was the BAY, Gili-Gili was the actual Base/Airfield.
