Hi all,

Do you have any ETA for new version perhaps?

BTW, if you added many new thinmgs it might be prudent to release it now so that we can (through our games) BETA test it for you (i.e. it might be more difficult to trace possible problems down when many new features are added)...

Two weeks ago. [:D] Good job I didn't post the estimate at the time. [;)]

Still some more to do, don't get much done during the week so it depends on how much I can do this weekend. Current guess is a couple of weekends - but it's only a guess.

As part of the changes I'm making, I've been toying with the idea of implementing regions to which bases can be assigned for reporting purposes. There are still a number of issues I haven't been able to resolve so I'm not sure if I'll include this in the next release. One issue was with bases on, or near, a boundary: you'd often want to see info for bases close by but in the adjacent region(s). The simple idea of using a range filter around the selected base hadn't occured to me! [:(] Thanks, I think I'll take it up: it may even negate the need for regions altogether.

Great Stuff!!! I'm glad I could help.

Any chance of including a time filter (with both start and end dates)???

I think this will be a useful tool, particularly when used with a location filter.

(ie Show all reports generated within 6 hexes of Guadacanal from the 10th to 14th of August 1942).

As you're Allies, and to prevent ny possible synchronisation issues, I'd suggest asking your opponent to send you the 4 text files as well as the combat replay save. You can then use the manual option to extract the information from the text files.

The four text files are: asigint.txt, combatreport.txt, jsigint.txt, operationsreport.txt and they can be found in &GameFolder%/SAVE/

It would be nice if air balance numbers of bases were kept track of, with turn-by-turn net gains and losses. Sometimes it's possible to detect enemy carriers entering or leaving by changes in the air balance numbers because they are always reported accurately at each base for both sides, even in bases in which there was no possibility for conventional recon.

No ETA, still a bit of tidying up to do and little motivation at the moment as I'm not currently playing WitP.

New features include:
  • Paths saved with each game (for people with multiple installs)
    Image
  • LCU tracking and hierarchical view
    Image
  • LCU arrival listing
    Image
  • Leo's arrows for direction/speed of task forces spotted in the previous turn

Maximize window mode covers up top row tabs on right for me

EDIT: That was from my W98 15" laptop. It works fine on my WinXP 15.4" laptop.

One question I haven't seen answered: do you miss anything by running the replay on a different machine than you run the utility?

What if you run the 001 file on one machine, move the 4 .txt files to another machine, fire up the utility, have it mine the files. Is there something that the utility misses by not having the replay run while the utility is on?

No problem to run the replay on one machine and copy the text files over: the utility only uses the data in these text files and the scenario data files. In this case you would use the manual update option ("Check for New Intel/Ops" button), rather than relying on the automatic detection of turn resolution.
