I have zero intention of going near the PI its just to crowded with to many bases to close and will be to well defended for my limited ground forces. With lvl 9 forts in every base and 1 or 2 Divs I could wreck my whole army there easily especially as he will suck forces out of India if he saw me going there.

I am definitlley going to island hop to Saipan - Iwo - Okinawa possible with attacks on Formosa its just a matter of time

I will do a full rundown of the forces for Operation Goblin the invasioon of Kwal in a few turns but suffice to say it will be the biggest nastiest assault landing in history when it goes in. (Kwal is a little bit of a time waster but it is also a dry run for the attacks on other atolls later.)

I need to find out whether I have the assault capability to take out 50,000 men behind lvl 9 forts in reasonable speed.

So this is it

Just to give a feeling of the scale on operation Goblin here are some stats

8 CV's Franklin/ Intrepid / Lexington/ Wasp/ Hornet/ Saratoga/ Essex/ Bunker Hill

A covering and bombardment force of

6 BB's Alabama/ California/ Colorado/ North Carolina/ South Dakota/ Idaho
9 Heavy Cruisers and 18 Light Cruisers and 6 AA CL's
over 70 DD's/ DE's uncounted MSW's and patrol craft and assault lift sufficient to land a III Corps HQ, 1st USMC Div/ 37th US Inf Div/ 7th US Inf Div and 4 Armoured Regts in the first wave alone.

The might of the US Pacific Fleet is back and ready to blow KB out of the water if they dare to try and interfere.....7th US is just East of Pearl now and I estimate Operation Goblin will be go in 10 - 12 days this is my strongest fleet to date with some real battleline units to back up the carriers.

Andy, do you have an Amphibious HQ loaded on an AGC? If not, you will suffer some. I take it you have everything else loading on LSTs and LCTs, etc.? Not using AKs or large APs for LCUs are you? Good luck Andy.

Yup 5th Amphib Force (Turner) will be covering the invasion.

LST's/ LCT's and LCI's with some Ak's AP's for support troops but I will only let AK's etc unload for one phase when my assault troops go ashore I have learned that lesson.

The rest of the support trooops will go ashore with the 2nd Wave (6th/ 24th/ 33rd Inf Divs)

Andy, you are still bombing Truk, aren´t you? It would be hard luck if you succed in kwal but loose NG.

I am bombing Truk but only half heartedly.

If he wants to bring 300 fighters into defend the place I am actually happy to fight him.

I can bring 100 P38's escorting 300 4E's to flatten the place if he chooses to fight for Truk.

Killing another 300 Zeke pilots suits me fine.

My plan in SOPAC area is quite simple wait for Massau to get to level 2 AF c 30% to lvl 1 now and accelerating.

As soon as I can base 150 38J's there attack Satawal and secure it then Moleai.

These will be hard fights but should be doable.

SWPAC will reinvade Dagua and Aitape as soon as can release enough amphib lift for 1 Div and enough CV's to cover the invasions.

My plan is simple bypass large concentrations and support invasions in this area with the full allied Carrier fleet

A few more days pass and my forces slowly assemble.

It is frustrating waiting on them all to gather

The initial assault wave will be 3 Divs and 4 Armoured Regts. I was hoping for more but I have decided to let the 7th US Div attack in the second wave.

I estimate 3 more days before the armada sets sail for Kwal.

When all TF's are set up I will give a full run down of forces and strength. (Part of me thinks I may be using a sledgehammer against a peanut !!!!! but he does have 50k men dug in behind level 9 forts)

Colorado ate a torpedo today when my LRCAP stayed at home she was going in to soften up the minefields at Kwal with some DMS's.

20 sys damae which is annoying. Idaho goes on.

Two more BB's are almost repaired on the West Coast and Iowa's are so close I can just about touch them !!!!!

p.s apart from standard raids today I landed troops in 8 or 9 indian prots from subs.

They were basically recon troops out to check if PZB was stripping India ....and if they make him a little paranoid so be it !!

I did it to annoy him as much as anything.

Didnt help me much as I dont see the ground combat animations so apart form all bases being well garrisoned I dont know what units are there.

All TF's are loading 75,000 assault troops at Tarara and more than 200 Tanks are in final loading Goblin will hit home soon.

I have about 2 Divs prepped for Entiwok so If this goes well that will be my next target.

Humm, you're going for a fully fortified target defended by 50000 troops. I don't think you're going for overkill. This is a hard target and it's going to be bloody.

Well all TF's are at sea 120 miles north of Tarawa heading to Kwal

Assault echelon is 6th / 7th /37th US Div spearheaded by 1st USMC 2 US and 2 Aussie Armoured regts are going in as well.

I am heavily relying on the 2 Aussie Regts and the USMC Div as the victors of New Britain, New Guinea and the Solomons.

I am slightly concerned about committing three 'Green' US NG Divs to there first combat at a hard fight like Kwal.

I am definitley spotted. As previously discussed I have a lot of ships in harms way at the moment


I have 16 TF's on the way I am determined not to land until I am certain that all TF's will land in same phase.

I have over 1,000 carrier aircraft in my fast TF's alone. With another 200+ in the combat elements of the Replenishment TF excluding the replenishment carriers

This is going to be fun !!!!
