Japan sweep Port Blair catching the low CAP protecting the ships. We lose 11 Hurricanes for only 5 Zeroes. It will have to do for now though. Unloading won´t finish for 2-3 days more. 2 Pilots KIA and 2 WIA. I have 300 Hurricanes in the pool so I can do this for a while. Things will improve drastically once I can put the CAP up a bit higher and the radar is unloaded.

PS. Jeff says he wants to continue with the game so I guess we will do that. He will have to pick up the pace though or I will terminate it myself. 2-3 turns per week is not enough for me to keep interest up.

I can see why you'd have less interest now. You've fought a great battle and won it, and you know what the rest will be like to an extent.

I hope it keeps going though, because I think Japan still has a lot of fight, and I'd love to see how this kind of effort to hit the WC and the ensuing losses can be absorbed (or not) by the IJ economy.

It'll also be fun to see how you continue to push from your recently acquired footholds while Japan has been focused on the West Coast.

Not sure there will be much pushing...I havn´t really done anything the last 30 turns or so...mostly just sorted WC and pressed end turn. Until I know for sure this game will pick up the pace I´m doing as little as possible. I have neglected planning and prepping for a while now. So once the troops I prepped earlier have landed I can´t really move forward.

Pretty stupid I know. But I just can´t motivate myself to spend time with the turns. [:(]

We shall see how things look from now on. Sent Jeff a turn this morning. If our usual pace holds I´ll get it Saturday or Sunday.

I would hate if this story ends. I am pretty curious how it would play long time...

Got the turn back today! That havn´t happened in a very long time... [X(]

Allied main army shifts hex to Santa Ana today. There has been sporadic bombing by 4Es mostly to see what is there. From the looks of it there arn´t much in the way of defense in place.

2nd and 12th division together with 18th Tank regiment. Unless he can shift in more for tomorrow I think we will overcome them. If the allies are victorious here tomorrow the Japanese army on the West coast is doomed and the main force will be caught in LA.

Fingers crossed for tomorrow...

Those TFs SW of LA have not moved much. I wonder if they are barges, escorted by other ships to refuel - only way he could retrieve cadres of his units may have been barges.
DDs could have a field day with such a convoy ...

Or he is congregating for an all-in, one-go type of deal. Can't think of another reason for any kind of pause, besides forgetting about it. Which is just not something that would happen here.

Not barges. Looks like a 1 BB TF. A CA/CL TF and a big transport TF together with 2 ASW TFs.

Basically Jeff emptied LA completely and the troops managed to get into Santa Ana in the nick of time. The troops took a huge beating though and around 500AV is shaved off the main force. Allied forces suffer from disruption and will have to rest for 2-3 days. But only 14 tanks are disabled.

Japanese forces are now caught in the open without forts. The heavy artillery from LA will move in together with 2 fresh divisions and start working over the troops together with the 4Es.

I was considering starting to move out the 1600 AV from SD to threaten his rear but decided against it at this point. To early to call it a victory but it was the first step to one. I don´t think he will be able to recover the disablements suffered today in meaningful numbers.

Looking good! He had an Op Mode - in that battle, which must mean the troops just arriving from LA were still in move mode.
Even though he lost 500 AV in the battle he may have brought a lot more than that from LA and it will be ready to fight next round.
Can you bombard to get a handle on the new AV level?
Do you have a feel for his supply situation (AA guns firing, etc.)? I'm thinking your success in sinking all those AKs a few turns back would have set him back in his supplies.

I don't see why you wouldn't move the troops up from San Diego now. There's no reason not to. The more pressure you put on his troops the better.

Not sure I follow? [:)] The troops arriving from LA took part in the attack so their AV is accounted for?

Flak is still strong so I doubt supply is an issue right now for him. Losing 2-4 bombers per turn.

There is still 28 units at Camp Pendleton and he can move quickly between CP and SA. I´m afraid to move out and get caught in the open in the clear hex without forts at CP with my SD army.

Don´t want to give him SD now that I fought so hard to deny him just that. [:)]

Looks like he has given up on his troops. IMO they were doomed when Japan lost air superiority. Having the KB airwings shot to pieces over Camp Pendleton two weeks ago certainly didn´t help now.

Funny how such a small thing as 75 P47s can turn the tide of a whole war! [&o]

I've never been too sure that all the AV of troops in move mode is counted in the raw AV of a combat. It seemed to me that enemy AV next round always seems better than it was prior despite losses. Just an impression - I don't catch enemy troops in the wrong mode often enough to be sure. Usually the Japanese are hunkered down behind forts and my troops are the ones moving in.

AFAIK the full AV of the troops in other than Combat mode is counted. But, what I think you are hot on the trail of is that their adjusted AV will suffer the penalties of their mode, plus more vulnerability during various combat phases (artillery, etc.).
