Here is a look at some of the Burma Army now in China. It's strange for so many units of free IJA troops to have accumulated so many victories without ever being forced to retreat and replace devices. So EXP for many of these units has never gone down, only up. This is especially unique for the arty and AA units, which really show that EXP in their results. These are the good 12cm AA regiments as well.

For now the most experienced will move to Liuchow with about 1,500AV staying in Nanning. Another ID is one hex away, and a second two hexes away in case reinforcements are necessary later.

On the 9th not much happens. The Allies do continue their bombing, and Helldivers especially take the brunt of it from AA at Hangchow. A good selection of 1E, 2E and 4E are downed on the day though. The Allies lose 27 planes to flak, ops and A to A for search and recon.

A small Jake unit flies to strike a small amphib TF near Haipohong and takes out a small xAP with two kami hits.

The Allies indeed have pulled out of Nanning, and a lone Chinese Corps straggles, getting a pounding from the IJA arty as a farewell.

On the 10th the Allies try a big night raid on Matsue on the Northern coast of Honshu. Not much there, and the Allies hit Manpower, starting large fires but only so far damaging 4 resource factories out of 40. The NF react and catch up to a few of the beasts, knocking down 2 within another listed as an ops loss.

I tried a small LR CAP over Singers for one purpose. I saw the new Spit XIV flying sweeps low here and wanted to see what the Ki-83 could do against them with the once. Trouble is the Tuhnderbolt II have been sweeping high and arriving earlier, which they did again, so only a few Ki-83 were left to fight. Got a 1:1 with the Spits though. [:)]

The Allies have been sending a lot of small APD incursions to take dot bases in the Southern DEI, and today three APDs ventured near Timor. A Judy group and a Kate group both sortied and sank all three. Small stuff, but still fun. [8D]

I've seen myself that groups on naval attack at low altitude tend to kami at a much higher rate than other groups. My guess is that it's related to Alfred's points previously regarding voluntary kamikaze.

I wonder what the frequency of such voluntary kamikaze attacks is relative to the Combat Report message, "So-and-so kamikaze attacks for the emperor" or some such. Does the message (or lack thereof) tell you anything about the rationale for the kamikaze attack? The fact that neither kamikaze attack was identified in a postscript message-is that actionable?

+1 MM, Obvert likes to fly Jakes at 1000 foot attacks since they still drop a full bomb load, but are subject to horrible AA...causing those damaged planes to take one for the Emperor. This late in the game you can really work that to your advantage!

+1 MM, Obvert likes to fly Jakes at 1000 foot attacks since they still drop a full bomb load, but are subject to horrible AA...causing those damaged planes to take one for the Emperor. This late in the game you can really work that to your advantage!

Exactly. It's still not going to work much. So I just have a few groups in opportune locations when something is near that isn't covered by the DS. That is rare. The Allies i this game are always shepherded by an 1,000 plane CAP. [8D]

The Allies keep on with the milk runs and lose a good amount to flak. They fl sweeps at Wuchang, and although the first compete well, they are worn down through the battles and by the last P-47N sweep the Allies dominate. Still only 2:1 on the day over our base. Not the day with flak and other losses added, it's still almost even. I'll look back on the 15th and do some math, but I think this has been the most bloody month of time in the air during the game.

The Allies also try a para-drop on Karenko in the mountains of Formosa. The B-29s tried to soften up the troops, but this is x3 with 3 forts and an IJA regiment. They weren't budged and the Allied attack collapsed completely at a 1:38. The DS is hovering now off the coast of China. Is there another operation afoot?

I still can only manage one pilot over 20 kills. There are many many good 80+ EXP jocks up there though. I've been retraining a lot of 70-85 eXP pilots in defence, which takes a bit of time, but should be worth it if I can get them up over 65 at least. Some were in the 25-35 range, which is bad.

Only lost 12 KIA this turn which is positive.

Interesting amount of troops now at Nanking as the forward positions shrink. They're not yet moving forward and most of the forward bases are ungarrisoned as well, (which I guess means I'm getting some extra VP for those every turn[;)]).

What will he do next?

I think the difficulty is simply the investment in clicks to use everything in the Allied OOB.

Loka and I had discussions that he was having dozens of units arrive on the West Coast that he couldn't even be bothered moving on to ships because he had so much already at the front. What's an extra division or four when you've already got more than your amphib capacity can handle?

I think it's excuseable in an extent in the ground war, but less so in the naval and air game. The big '45 Allied naval OOB can get a lot done if deployed properly.

I think it's excuseable in an extent in the ground war, but less so in the naval and air game. The big '45 Allied naval OOB can get a lot done if deployed properly.

I'm not finding that to be the case in my solitaire Ironman game. The divisions arriving at San Fran get shipped immediately to Agrihan, then to Naha and ultimaately to Tokuyama where I managed to get a foothold on Honshu. The Brit and Canadian divisions arriving at Vancouver get shipped immediately to Adak for use in taking the Kuriles.

Once you get ahsore on Kyushu and Honshu, there simply aren't enough divisions to go around. Each major base siege hex needs the non-Russian Allied equivalents of a Soviet Army to reduce them. The Brits have finished off Formosa and are loading as fast as possible making a beeline for Tokuyama. The Aussies and Kiwis wrapping up the clearing of Borneo are loading as fast as possible and making a beeline for Tokuyama.

Basically everything in my inventory that isn't committed to either Kyushu or the Kuriles is heading for Tokuyama.

You just move them closer to the front in bulk in the xAKs and look for the large enough piece of land to dump them on so that they walk around there for some time pretending doing something useful[:D]

low to mid 20 kills seems to be my limit too.

I think the difficulty is simply the investment in clicks to use everything in the Allied OOB.

It's a different kettle of fish when it's PBEM. I was constrained by supply and the AI isn't. The big crunch for IJ industry happened a long time ago in our game, and once the supply goes, Japanese combat power falls off quite sharply. Being out of supply is a 75% reduction in effectiveness - that's a big game-changer when IJ units are defending fortified positions.

For ground units, If you set up shipping hubs it is not hard to keep everyone in sr mode to the hub, and ship out when convenient. I guess Stacking limits complicates it some, but as long as you check your daily reinforcements daily it isn't that overwhelming.

No stacking limits here. It's been a bit slow on the ground but also in the air over Japan. I was used to Jocke's 2-3 massive strikes per week.

He has been increasingly using more Corsairs that seem to be from the DS to sweep. They're tough. He has a lot of them.

What would you do in China? After the abandoned move on Nanning and the sitzkrieg near Shanghai, I'm perplexed.
